Dolly Parton, queen of country music, will join the class of 2022 inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Dolly was named an inductee Tuesday, along with fellow Southerner Lionel Richie, who was born in Tuskegee, Alabama. Other inductees in the “performer” category will be Duran Duran, Pat Benatar, Eminem, Eurythmics and Carly Simon, according to RollingStone.com.
When Dolly’s name first appeared on ballots in March, she said she would refuse the honor, believing she would be taking the place of someone more deserving.
She later reversed course and told NPR: “It was always my belief that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was for people in rock music. I have found out lately it’s not necessarily that … And so I felt like I was taking away from someone that maybe deserved it certainly more than me since I never considered myself a rock artist. But obviously, there’s more to it than that.”
The induction ceremony will be Nov. 5, 2022, at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.

If they put LL Cool J, NWA, Harry Belafonte, JayZ, Tupac Shakur, Louis Armstrong, Solomon Burke, Public Enemy, Buddy Guy, Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Billie Holiday, Brenda Lee, BB King, Bobbie Blue Bland, Miles Davis, Madonna, Donna Summer, Elmore James, Bill Monroe, Janet Jackson, Nina Simone, Jimmy Reed, Notorious Big, Ma Rainey, Freddie King...
They have to start including country artists.

Don’t care. Pat Benetar got in.
Dolly tried to bow out. Which was gracious. They won’t let her. So she accepted graciously. I’m sure she will make a couple self deprecating comments in her acceptance through a rock and roll lens.
If you got a problem with Dolly you hate boobs, America, and nice ladies.

He should be in. He's more rock than everyone I mentioned.

They should just quit. Who is going to this thing anyway? Not rock and roll fans.

It will never happen and Nashville tried for years to keep Hank out of the country music hall of fame for not following in the same path as his dad. I don't have anything against Dolly Parton but she comes off as an arse kisser compared to more of an outlaw personality like Bocephus.

Best personalities in the RRHoF

One of the Danettes on the Dan Patrick show said "I can't wait to see her bust"

I don't have a problem with some of the people on that list like BB King or Buddy Guy or for that matter Bobby Blue Bland and Solomon Burke. They laid the groundwork for a lot of guys who are considered " rock" acts.

People who visit Cleveland.

I've been there once and won't go back. Aside from The Beatles, Stones, Elvis and Hendrix exhibits, it's pretty boring.

That’s ridiculous. What has she ever done that is remotely rock

When I think Rock and Roll both Dolly Parton and Eminem immediately come to mind, I’m glad they got in and the recognition of the rock music they created.

It's a shame that this hall of fame has mutated into the "current music and/or politically correct music hall of fame".

I heard, just yesterday, that Paul Rodgers from Free, Bad Company, The Firm and fronting for Freddie Mercury on Queen is not in the RRHOF!
One of the Greatest Front Men of all time is not in and Dolly Parton is.
What a crock of shite!
