LINK

I saw this article and wonder how other posters would feel about the Pelicans possibly trading the 8th pick for one of these scenarios.

I think i would stay put and draft a young player especially with our upcoming cap situation, but out of the 5 propose trades, I would favor the Hawks deal. I like Huerter and we would still have pick 16.

I honestly think this makes the most sense:

Pels: Malcom Brogdon, #31

Pacers: Graham, Temple, #8, #41, #52, Kira?

I’d love to do that trade without adding Kira but is it possible?

That is terrible. I would not even want Brogdon given his cost, injuries and age. There is no way I would give up #8 to get him.

It is just hard for me to justify paying 22 million for a guy that has played more than 60 games only once since his rookie year. The injury concerns are real with him and is the reason the Pacers are done with him.

And what would we do with him after next season? There is no way we could afford to sign him to a long-term deal.

I’m not really disagreeing with any of y’all.

If we keep Kira in this scenario then I don’t hate it. Yes injuries would be a concern but don’t we have some of the best trainers to extend careers? Also his defense and offensive abilities would be the key to this team taking another step. You can’t just overlook that because “the #8 pick could or could not work out”. We talk about needing defenders, bigger guards, a true 6th man/ starter, etcc and he hits all of those. We have a timeline now and it’s not just about building assets for the future.

If we keep Kira, get off Graham/ Temple contracts for an upgrade, and still get pick #31 it’s hard to really hate.

I’d rather keep Kira/ #8 and trade Graham, Temple, and future picks for Brogdon straight up but I don’t know if that would be possible.

Eh. Lotta meh there.

Most realistic moves are 8 and Graham for 10 and KCP or getting the 13 and 15 while also sending out a contract.

While I like Myles Turner, I don’t like the idea of us blowing our load to get him when we already have JV, Jax, and Nance. Jax, Nance, and Turner all expire after this coming season so we can likely keep only one of them unless we ship out JV.

Potentially a costly win now maneuver between expiring contracts and the loss of the #8 pick.

This is the deal an insanely desperate front office makes around the ASB.

Ok so the #8 is off the table. What would y’all give up for Brogdon?

A broken condom and two extra nets.

I don’t like the idea of an injury prone guy with that much money left on his deal.

I've said elsewhere I'd consider a deal with Charlotte, something like...

Pels trade 8th pick + Temple to Hornets for 13th pick + PJ Washington.

At 13 I'd take Ochai Agbaji.

Come out of draft with Washington and Agbaji, who I project to replace Hayes (who we won't pay) and Graham (who we will probably look to ditch). Gain shooting/size and defense off the bench with Agbaji. Gain shooting and PF skills with Washington (38% from the arc + 7'2" wingspan).

Would have to deal with Washington's contract as an RFA after next season, but happy to do that with him over Jax. We also get off Temple's deal.

Our top 10 then is:

PG: CJ/Alvarado
SG: Herb/Agbaji
SF: BI/Trey
PF: Zion/PJ
C: JV/Nance Jr.

Like that rotation. Kira/Naji/Billy/Jax/Graham are also good spot duty depth + trade ammo...

Nothing. He’s not needed on this team.

For the record, I'm not dissing the trade proposal. I just think 22 million is too much for: 1) A guy that hasn't shown he can stay on the court and 2) a 6th man. A guy like Brogdan would be coming in to be CJ's starting mate in the backcourt, which is fine because his game would fit perfectly.

If Daniels were to fall, he could actually just be the table-setting point guard we are looking for long-term. He is a guy that can get a team into an offense and I think he can be an excellent defender.

Maybe, but there's not a whole lot to love about it either
