Moving out of state! Before I rent a truck and drive my own stuff, I’m looking for quotes from a few moving companies. Has anyone had a good experience with a particular company or service (like pods?)? Appx 800 miles.

No relocation bonus so trying to do this as cost effectively and easily as possible

That fella on the side of the highway going from Florida to Alaska will move your shite. Might take 10 years though.

Moved my Dad from Jackson Ms to B.R. a few years back. Rented a U-Haul truck and contracted out "loaders" on their website. One company up there and a different one here to unload. If I remember right, you get them by the hour and just pay on the app. Good experience in both places.

I just used Henry Hauling for a move and was pretty impressed with them. I was paying by the hour and they hauled arse to get me my money’s worth and nothing came up missing or broken.

I dang sure wouldn’t move all my stuff in a moving truck by myself.

I would call around until i found a company.

We hired empire. They contract out to many small companies that are very sketchy. Technically everything got to us but it was not a great experience.

I used Two Guys and a Truck last year. 1200sq ft, 3br house moved from BR to Huntsville, AL for $5200. They loaded up on a Monday and unloaded the next day. I'm using them again next month, but locally since I just purchased a house.

How much stuff do you have?

I moved myself from apartment to apartment from Florida to Texas. Not a ton of stuff.

When wife and I moved from apartment to 1st house, local moving company. By then had heavy furniture and more of her stuff.

If you are in a fully furnished house now, get movers and do not attempt it yourself. They will come in and box your stuff up in 1-2 days and then move within a few days after that.

That seems not worth it for that short of a distance. That's less than an 8 hour drive.

I'd hire a team to load up, rent a UHaul and make the drive myself, hire a team to unload.

Unless $5200 was nothing to me, which if that is the case for you, go crazy and god bless you. $5200 is still not funny money in my case.

For larger homes it gets really crazy to do interstate moves.

Full serve I had quotes in the $15-18k range.

I’d look into pods and have movers load and unload or drive and have movers on both ends if you have the time.

We moved a 4 bedroom home from DFW area to Lafayette about a month ago. It was $4600.

I was surprised at professionalism and care they took. Our previous two moves were RELO moves with 20K budgets. Those guys weren't much better.

Planning a move this fall/winter. About to start getting quotes.

Be wary, especially of low quotes. Lots of horror stories of companies holding furniture hostage and demanding more money. Many times LE considers this a civil matter and won't get involved. Read every word of the contract several times. Whatever company you go with, make sure to throughly research them.
