Playing in an event with no cut & only a 20 man field.

While #1479th ranked, Chase Koepka, gets 0 points for beating 14 players ranked in the top 100 while finishing T9 at LIV Chicago.

Tiger is the only player in the event (72 holes) not ranked in the top 100.

CK played in an exhibition match (54 holes) on a tour that does not currently qualify for OWGR pts.

What’s funnier is that the 1479th player in the world is finishing in the top 10 on the LIV tour.

Kinda like #1329 Zac Blair finishing T12 in the Fortinet Championship a few weeks ago?

He moved up to #857 bc of that 1 finish, so safe to say Chase should be ranked much higher also if he was awarded OWGR pts. Too bad he only got $140k.

Chase got $576k

Y'all do realize the #926th ranked golfer won the British Open in 2004, right?

Right?

Well I started this thread to point out the hypocrisy that Tiger will get OWGR points for an event with no cut & only a 20 man field. While someone like Koepka doesn’t get any in his limited field, no cut event.

Swagga couldn’t resist taking a jab at LIV instead of the actual point.

Well your point is silly. Tiger is hosting a 72 hole one off event.

Tiger isn’t hosting a 54 hole exhibition tour.

If Tiger creates a 54 hole tour to compete directly with the PGA, I’m sure he would run into similar issues.

ETA: and Tiger is Tiger. The PGA isn’t going to fight a PR battle with the one golfer that’s done more to grow the game than probably any other.

The Chase Koepka that can't even earn a KFT card and wouldn’t be anywhere near LIV without his brother? I'm sure the money makes him feel ok at night.

Does it make you feel cool acting like there is a difference between a “72 hole no cut one off” event & a “54 hole exhibition”?

Like an extra 18 holes makes it a real competition..

Yes, because we’ve never seen anyone blow a 54 hole lead. Those extra 18 on Sunday really don’t matter much.

It doesn’t really matter in this case. It’s a 20 man field, with no cut. They can play 90 holes & it doesn’t make it a better competition.

The 54 holes vs 72 holes debate is the dumbest argument.

Didn’t it take the Hero tournament like 8 years to qualify for OWGR points? I don’t think you’re making the point you think you are

Point is clear rankings are a joke and any current use of them is foolish.

I’m sure LIV will get points but they’re no more special than a hero invitational. Go through the process.

the Hero shouldnt get points. Neither should LIV. Neither meet the criteria.

Change the criteria.
A tournament with 19 out of 20 players ranked in the top 35 in the world & one of the greatest golfers of all time should be awarded points.

Ok. So we can take the no cut issue off of the list of reasons LIV shouldn’t get points. Got it. The issue is that it is 54 holes. I wonder if there is a 54 hole event that currently gets points??

You can take the OWGR points from the hero, I don’t really care.

My point is comparing a one off event hosted by the one golfer the PGA cannot take on to the LIV tour is incredibly dumb.
