Come on Louisiana

quote:

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC and QatarEnergy announced today that they are proceeding with the construction of an $8.5 billion integrated polymers facility in Orange, Texas, expected to create more than 500 full-time jobs and approximately 4,500 construction jobs and generate an estimated $50 billion for the community in residual economic impacts.

I don’t understand how no matter how many factories they build there, no matter how many great paying jobs exist there, the Golden Triangle still looks completely run down, poverty ridden, and depressing as all get out.

Jefferson County (Beaumont is the County seat) is VERY Democrat heavy in elected officials, and has a very large trial lawyer per population ratio.

And land is cheaper in shitty areas.

I doubt anyone will ever build a factory in Mountain Brook, AL.

There’s a great youtube video called “Why Louisiana stays poor” by Together Louisiana. It explains a lot

That video is absolute hogwash. Louisiana would be a poorer Mississippi without the petrochemical industry

Louisiana’s poverty ridden are far too uppity to allow these kinds of projects anymore. Not team players.
