Carnival's website bookings show it based in Florida staring in May 2024.

No news yet on what if any ship will replace in NOLA. Rumors are Panorama, Legend, or Radiance will replace.

So this will leave a giant Glory hole at the Port of New Orleans?

Panorama is not leaving Long Beach for a long time. I’d be very surprised if they move it out of there since none of the Excel class ships are going over there.

Never been on a cruise. I heard Carnival is the Walmarks of cruises/ What should I expect? What if I don't have an EBT card?

The seven day trips are somewhat tamer than the 3 or 4 day booze cruise trips. Do bring nice clothes and eat in the dining room fo diner. The second week you are going to feel like Bill Murphy in Groundhog Day. So the dinner menus will be the same. If there are premium restaurants, book a meal at them for something different. Formal night is usually the best meal night. If you can climb ladders and stairs, DO book the Behind the Fun excursion. You have to book this the first day of the cruise and the tour is the last day at sea coming back. Excursions on the ports of call can usually be booked before you with guides outside of Carnival. They have smaller groups and do cooler stuff. The casino odds are tight. The tables are your best best. The art is all prints. The jewelry is mostly junk. Booze is cheap on the boat, but they keep it until the end of your cruise. Ice cream and pizza is great at 3 or 4 am after you've slept off a few drinks. Have fun.

back to back 7 day cruises on Glory

The Glory is one of the older ships and reflects Carnival’s more garish design from the past. The ship will feel dated. They have added some of the newer casual dining concepts, but this ship has not gotten the full bow to stern renovation seen on the Sunshine, Sunrise, and Radiance.

All in all, you’ll have a comfy bed, great food, and beautiful ports to visit.

If you decide you like cruising, try one of Carnival’s newer ships (Vista class and later) or another line.
