I know there are lots of Metallica fans here. I’ve not yet seen mention of the second single being released from their upcoming album. “Screaming Suicide” is available for streaming, as of today. I’ll be giving it a listen, shortly…

EDIT: Very tasty, upon first listen. Interesting vocal patterns from Hetfield, and some sweet riffs. Lots of leads from Hammett, and a solo that feels more fleshed-out than most of his recent contributions. I like it more than Lux Eterna. This sounds much more like new, modern Metallica and less like reliving past glories. Good stuff.

Terrible song. Their new stuff just sounds so dated and generic.

Hopefully they'll suicide their careers. They've been done now for a while.

Some of it has, but I feel this song at least tries to buck that trend.

Lmao. But still selling out two day shows at stadiums. Great take.

I love it. Different vocal style from Het, it's groovy, bluesy with elements of heavy. At near 60yo, this is damn good.

Bet you used to be the ones calling them sell outs when they didn't release MOP part 4 when the black album came out. SAD.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of the music, the song is touching alot of people's lives that deal with demons everyday.

Take off your Metallica glasses for a minute. I like Metallica well enough. If we’re being truly honest, they haven’t made a decent album since the Black album. Their best years are long behind them, and most people follow them more for their back catalog than their new releases anymore. It happens to all of our favorite bands at some point. And that’s ok to admit. Their new music just doesn’t cut it, but all of their releases through the Black album are still untouchable.

I think the issue is we haven't put together a COMPLETE album like the one's in the 80's. About half of Death Magnetic & Hardwired were straight out of the original thrashier side & the rest just average. Still putting out decent stuff but the 80's catalog just cannot be replicated.

That’s why I still dig the Load era albums. It showed the band knew they’d never outdo their first five records, so they tried something entirely different.

Do they play new music at those shows? Geez, I'd hope not. RIP Metallica's career

Load was pretty good. But their music started trending down after that.

Not my tempo. The boys need to stop creating and just tour with the golden days stuff.

What silliness. Load was great. ReLoad was very good. Garage Inc. was great and Death Magnetic was great. Hardwired was very good.

Matters of fact, my friend. Metallica's "down period" still beats the breaks off a lot of bands' peaks.

More than any band I've seen, Metallica get raked over the coals simply for following the same career quality arc that pretty much every band has. No one is releasing career-defining albums on the tail-end of 40 years in the business.

Going on 40 years and still selling out soccer stadiums worldwide. They should probably just quit and retire.

Its not that theyre not "decent," theyre decent enough for sure.

It's just that they're not MOP or AJFA. No one has ever really had a first four albums like theirs. Maybe Zeppelin, but not in metal.

Aside from st anger, which still had a few catchy riffs, there are plenty of good songs between the loads. Now the last two I've been indifferent on, but they're old man.

So I disagree about since TBA. Maybe the last 2-3.

They have specifically said that is not what they want to do.
