I am flying Southwest to Ohio for a work trip. Was told we would play golf at the local CC with the client most likely. I would like to bring my own clubs. Any Travel bag suggestions or tips for flying with clubs?

I have a club glove, love it.

Also if your driver has a removable head, just take it off before

Club glove, stiff arm
Take heads off
Wrap clubs at heads tightly with a towel for extra padding
Put shoes in bag

This. I sent my clubs ship sticks to Bandon last year. Best $30 I spent knowing where they were the whole time.

Would a hard case be better for air travel?

They're better for protection but harder to drag through airport and harder to fit in vehicle for transportation. Just don't go cheap on a cloth bag and they'll be fine.

The couple times I've done it, they don't come out on the normal baggage claim. It's in another area. Just an FYI. First time, it cost me like 45 minutes of my life thinking my clubs were MIA

Ship them with ship sticks or fedex directly to the course. No dragging them through airports. You’re welcome.

My only problem with this instead of checking them is I can't play or practice before the trip if I want to use the cheapest option. Usually, leading up to big golf trips, I'm geared up and want to go to the range or short game area the week leading up to it.

Club Glove and Stiff Arm, but it’s expensive.
I’d imagine someone you know has this set up and just borrow them. Like others said take off the heads of your woods for extra protection.

If they don't come out on the carousel with other luggage, look for a separate oversized luggage pick-up area in the baggage claim

Thanks all. Borrowing a travel bag and stiff arm. Going to take heads off and throw the apple tag in while praying for the best.

Did both of these. I used one of those crush stopper sticks and wrapped my exposed clubs with bubble wrap. Only issue I had was security had obviously gone thru my bag on the trip home and didn’t put everything back the way I had it.

Simply depends on the airport and if they have an oversized baggage area. Some don’t, some do. MSY does not so they come back through regular baggage claim.
