Zion's injuries in two prior years were to cartilage and bone. Zion's rehab from those injuries was extensive, because a broken bone and a torn ligament can have serious can have serious risks if they don't heal properly. That's why Aaron Nelson was very careful about Zion's return to play: we didn't want to risk Zion's career.

The injury that he has right now is a hamstring tear. In contrast to bone or ligament injuries, soft tissue injuries pose a much lower long-term risk. The greatest risk that Zion faces right now in returning to play is ... that he hurts his hamstring again.

So what? So what if Zion has to spend May and June rehabbing his hamstring? There's no great risk to Zion's long-term health.

That's why I think that Zion will play our last two regular-season games and then play in the postseason. The risk is not that great, and the upside is significant: Zion needs to play in the postseason!

And I don't think that the reintegration process is any great challenge for Willie Green. With the sole exception of Josh Richardson, the whole team knows how to play with Zion. The sets that they ran for him in December will still work, and only one practice would be necessary to get everyone to remember their roles and responsibilities in those sets.

I think that Zion will come off the bench in those games and play 15-20 minutes. True, Zion will not really be in basketball shape. Yes, he'll be rusty.

But a rusty Zion is still a formidable weapon, and we would be a real threat to win any playoff series that we find ourselves in.

I agree with everything. But Zion and BI are going to have to figure it out at some point. Unfortunately, they need to learn on the fly in the playoffs.

I think if they don't let Zion play in the playoffs, he'll be so pissed he might even request a trade.

Zion should play because we pay him a shite ton of money and he’s a pro basketball player.

I agreed with sitting Zion last playoffs to be healthy this year. He missed most of this year anyway. He needs to play regardless of the injury to start earning his way.

It was the last game of the year in a meaningless game and he took like 45 shots lol. The other 9 players on the court were just watching Kobe run around and chuck

Yea get him out there right now for 15-20 minutes a game. Stop with the re-evaluation on these two week time frame. It's a professional basketball team, they can do evaluations every single day. If he's ready to play, get his arse out there.

He was going decently hard before the game the other night. He was at least sweating it up, but he did look heavier than when he went out. Two games left in the season isn't enough to have him in playoff shape where your lineup shrinks and you need your star playing 35+ a night. For once in his career, he doesn't have to be 10,000% healthy to return. I'm ok with Zion at 90%, Zion at %90 is better than 90% of the league.

I think the last game of the season vs Minny is going to be huge. I don't know how I'd feel about that possibly being Zions first game back, it'd be hard to feel confident that there won't be some rust and that's not the time to be scraping off the rust.

Free Zion.
