They’ve recently been facing potential bankruptcy yet they have purchased tons of ad space that I’ve noticed so their marketing budget is still intact.

quote:

As of June 2023, Carvana is not going out of business, nor has it shown any intention of filing for bankruptcy. The company’s stock has recently surged, primarily attributed to better-than-expected earnings for Q2 of 2023.

Guy I know is a contractor for them and fixes their kiosks which apparently were poorly constructed from the get go.

What say you OT?

All I know is I sold my junk car that was breaking down constantly for a really good deal. They hardly looked at it before I received the check. Feel bad for whoever bought it from them. For that reason, I would never buy a car from Carvana.

Their debt load appears unsustainable, but the stock has skyrocketed lately due to a short squeeze. Simply glancing at their financials raises major red flags IMO.

Arbitrage is a bitch. What do they do that nobody else can?

Nada. They just got ahead of it. If they ever backed off their marketing budget they'd fold. Which means return customers aren't a big thing for them. They're in a PPC war that really only Google wins. There's just so many things eating margins here and they have got to have a nightmare on their hands trying to forecast anything.

Not saying a dealership is better but why wouldn’t I just go to a dealership?

Yea their stock prices has more than doubled recently after their big drop from 300+

An analyst I was reading said if Carvana were to file for bankruptcy protection, it would flood the used car market nationwide which would lower prices significantly

I found better pricing without the games

And the free return factor made me comfortable with the risk

I wouldnt purchase one with return fees though

This model works with new cars but with used cars it's tough. Lots of things you could miss on a description prior to delivery. When people pay $25,000 for something site unseen they're going to be extremely picky when it gets there.

Just depends on how you take your penis. Lube or no lube. The dealership experience sucks. With the evolution of online shopping I don’t see how they still exist and profit.

I haven’t been in a few years but we always enjoyed going back and forth and sweating it out. Miserable but can be fun, especially when you get them to make mistakes lol.

I admittedly don’t know all that much about Carvana. But perhaps their pricing is typically less expensive or the ease of buying a used car.

It’s just zip code car price arbitrage.

No. They are part of that weird wework situation where they somehow got classified as tech. Now that investors actually respect income, woof.

After buying several cars through Carvana, I can't imagine buying a car any other way from now on.

Maybe they could reorganize and be a distributor for various new car companies, particularly for the younger generation who prefer ordering things online, as well as others like me who hate going to a dealership

Can you explain what about them is preventing them from making a profit? I have no insight.
