Done several mocks and it always seems to come down to Ekeler , Kupp , or Kelce for me at 5 . How would you rank those 3 in ppr ? Which would you take ? 5 seems a spot or two early perhaps but having a tough time not wanting to snatch kelce there. . What sayeth the FB ?

It's never too early to grab a player that you want, that won't come back to you

True. Having some concerns with kupp off injury and stafford also off injury. Idk. Would be tough to not grab ekeler there if he’s available although I’d like his contract issues to be resolved before our draft. Kelce is always such a sure thing and almost a cheat code having tons of tight end production in fantasy but I realize that could change in one year. I hate the 5 spot. Lol

I think I like Ekeler there, but they are all great picks and I would struggle with the decision also. Really comes down to personal preference.

Who is going 4th? I imagine Jefferson, CMC, and Chase are 3 of them. I would think the guys you listed would be the next 3.

Hill? Bijan?

Kupp for me with Ekeler being a close second

No go on Kelce @ 5? I’m really trying to not get my hopes up that they eff this up and let cmc or chase fall in my lap at 5

Y’all are gonna tank your seasons selecting ekeler that early

I know that won’t be a popular opinion, but that’s how I feel

Dude won’t play more than 8/9 games this year

The one I’m worried about tanking someone’s season with an early pick is Bijan. Not big on rookies in the first round. ESP one that’s gonna play for the Atlanta falcons. I’m sure he’s a stud but they are a dumpster fire of a team and the guy has never played a single snap in the nfl. I wouldn’t take him 1.12 much less top 10 where he’s being mocked. Just my two cents.

The fact that he’s constantly getting picked ahead of Nick Chubb and Derrick Henry is insanity to me.

Volume and pass catching

I think Bijan has a similar rookie season to Saquon Barkley

My opinion it should be Kelce.

Most leagues has 7 spots for starters that aren’t a kicker or defense. The bulk of your points come from these 7 spots (qb, 2 wr, 2 rb, te and flex). Also, once you get past the top 2 or 3, tight ends have a huge drop off. Most years there’s not a big difference between the fifth best and 15th best tight end.

Because of that, getting a tight end like Kelce who will consistently have much better games than your opponents tight end is huge. The difference between Kelce and the next tight end is a big gap, much bigger than the difference for other positions. If you look at teams that make the fantasy draft playoffs, one of those teams ALWAYS has Kelce. I don’t think you can say that for any other player.

Well shite. Now that I know The RouxGuru had a gut feeling, I'm scratching Ekeler from my cheat sheet.

Running backs picked in the top 10 in the last 10 years:

1) Saquon: 91 rec, 2028 scrimmage yards, 15 TDs. League winner, RB1.
2) Fournette: 36 rec, 1342 scrimmage yards, 10 TDs. Finished as RB10.
3) CMC: 80 rec, 1086 scrimmage yards, 7 TDs. Finished as RB9.
4) Zeke: 32 rec, 1994 scrimmage yards, 16 TDs. Finished as RB2.
5) Gurley: 21 rec, 1294 scrimmage yards, 10 TDs (13 games). Finished as RB9.

Pretty, pretty, pretty good track record here...

Now do Clyde Edwards Helaire. Or etienne. Or Jacobs. There’s been quite a few guys since the inception of fantasy football that have generated a ton of hype and been big fantasy duds. One of my first years doing fantasy I grabbed Reggie bush in the first and he stunk it up for fantasy purposes. I fell into the CEH trap a few years ago and regretted it . Bijan May light it up but there are just way “safer” options for your first round selection. I’d let someone else roll the dice on a rookie. But to each his own.

Well none of those guys were picked in the top 10- that's a clear sign that the team is going to feed them a ton of touches.

But yea, CEH and Josh Jacobs operated in more of a committee and finished as RB22 and RB21 (only 13 games each). Not sure why you're including ETN, who broke his foot and didn't play a single game his rookie year.

Are you serious? Do you mean Reggie's rookie season?

1300+ total yards, 88 receptions, 8 TDs (9 TDs if your league included - and should - return TDs).

Everybody assumes Ekeler is injury prone because he’s small when in reality he’s only missed 6 games in 6 years

I rode his 18 tds to the playoffs last year

Thanks for feedback but no way I’m taking Diggs at 5. Pollard May be there for me at 2.08 but doubtful. If so then hell yeah I’d take him. And I def don’t like going qbs that early.
