The House is about to hold a second round of voting in the House Speaker election to replace former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who was removed from the position on October 3rd.
Representatives are currently establishing the call to the House/quorum.
Republicans who voted against Jim Jordan in Round 1:
Don Bacon (NE) - McCarthy
Ken Buck (CO) - Emmer
Lori Chavez-DeRemer (OR) - McCarthy
Anthony D'Esposito (NY) - Zeldin
Mario Díaz-Balart (FL) - Scalise
Jake Ellzey (TX) - Garcia
Andrew Garbarino (NY) - Zeldin
Carlos Giménez (FL) - McCarthy
Tony Gonzales (TX) - Scalise
Kay Granger (TX) - Scalise
John James (MI) - Cole
Mike Kelly (MI) - Scalise
Jennifer Kiggans (VA) - McCarthy
Nick LaLota (NY) - Zeldin
Doug LaMalfa (CA) - McCarthy
Michael Lawler (NY) - McCarthy
John Rutherford (FL) - Scalise
Michael Simpson (ID) - Scalise
Victoria Spartz (IN) - Massie
Steve Womack (AR) - Scalise
Gus Bilirakis (FL) was absent from the vote.
A Republican-led effort is in the works to temporarily empower Speaker Pro Tempore Patrick McHenry (R-NC) as House speaker, which would allow Congress to function until a permanent speaker is chosen.

I predict a lot of the holdouts will support Jordan, but not enough.
Ugh. I mean, you do what you gotta do, but this is the leadership equivalent of budgeting by continuing resolutions.

McHenry is going to be rejected as well. He is McCarthy's ally and those who voted against McCarthy don't want him in because they know he will immediately target them. BTW they would not be floating the McHenry as pro temp if they didn't want to scuttle Jordan's chance of winning.
They are going to need to find someone outside of the McCarthy camp.

Yeah, some commentators have said there’s a small possibility a handful of Democrats could be pulled away to vote for McHenry to keep the House operating.
I can’t imagine any of ‘em would do the GOP any favors in that regard.

Haven’t heard. Apparently his MIL passed from Parkinson’s, and yesterday was the funeral.
Awaiting one more Representative (1 Democrat) to check in.

Correct this is all political for the Democrats and they do not want to give the GOP a win. They want them to look totally dysfunctional. The only way they would vote for the GOP candidate is if the GOP candidate gave away the ship to them at this point which is not out of the realm of possibility.

They’re starting now with 432, so I guess they’re good to go?

Tom Cole (R-OK) nominates Jim Jordan

Guy nominated Jordan... GOP members rise to clap...
Except a couple did not... 1 just gave a half-hearted golf clap at best

And this board cheerlead the shite out of it. I can’t stand McCarthy but it was a childish, moronic move…but what do you expect.

I hope Jim Jordan falls short again just for the entertainment value

So you've moved to supporting Trump's endorsement and helping McCarthy get over the finish line?
