Blown 4th quarter leads aren't just a pels issue

Just last night the mavs, spurs, and heat blew big leads in the 4th.
In the current NBA, no lead is safe.
Probably good fir ratings but as a fan it makes games nerve wracking

I’m not a huge conspiracy guy but I’m assuming the NBA tells the refs to call the games so they aren’t blow outs.

Most NBA games are decided in the last 10 minutes. Unless you build up a 20-25+ point lead going into the 4th no lead is safe.

There were so many ticky-tac calls last night that it was laughable. As we started to pull away they called back to back travels on JV. And then what do you know it’s back to an 8 point game.
And as always it seems we can’t play aggressive on defense while other teams just get away with it. Even on our second to last possession, Anthony Edwards basically had to tackle BI at 1/2 court when the refs couldn’t swallow the whistle anymore for them to finally call a foul.
With all that being said, allowing KAT to get to the goal as easy as he did in 4 seconds was horrendous with the game on the line. Meanwhile, our best shot in 5.7 seconds was a fall away jumper. Whether that’s a “good” shot for BI is irrelevant. He shouldn’t have to fall away from the basket and shoot over a 6’7” defender to get a decent shot

We've been blowing leads since the Gentry days. This isn't anything new for this group. It's something they've had problems with for years now.

Which teams held on to leads last night?

The 3 pointer is the great equalizer and it seems to happen a lot against the pels especially last night. I’m guessing fatigue played a part but they couldn’t get around screens to save their life

Also doesn’t help when they let that big French bitch set illegal screens

That’s what makes NBA games a gold mine for cardiologists and psychotherapists.

Last year there were more comebacks than the last 27.
"5. Comebacks on the come up
One thing that’s often associated with increased 3-point rate is teams’ ability to come back from large deficits. And though 3-point rate dropped for the first time in 12 years, league-wide winning percentage after trailing by double-digits was the highest its been in the 27 years for which we have play-by-play data."

That is tracking double digit leads throughout the game
What’s the data say when you’re up 14 with under 8 to play?

I dont know bro. It took like a minute thirty to look that up.
I'd imagine it correlates. 14 points is one possession away from 10.

I appreciate your time in this matter
I’d venture to guess it doesn’t correlate given the propensity for fouling in the waning minutes of a ball game. And of course we know the value in making FTs late in the game considering we lose games like this every year

It’s a pels issue. Choking late is unacceptably bad.
