Help with weight gain

I’m seeing if you have any ideas for gaining weight. I’ve been the same weight for 10+ years and am very underweight for my age. I constantly get told I look 10+ years younger than my actual age, and it gets irritating and embarrassing.

I eat nutritious fruits and vegetables from the garden and plenty of meat protein too. No matter how much I eat, I just crap it out and don’t get fat. I’ve worked out several times in my life and am currently doing bicep exercises in the evenings plus drinking protein powder shakes(Gold standard whey protein), but I can never put on significant muscle mass. I know I have a fast metabolism, but this is ridiculous. I feel like I’m the 1 in a 1,000,000 case especially in this day in age when the whole world in obese.

Are there any proven weight gaining supplements or something I can take? Any input is appreciated?

I was in the same boat as you. Natural weight is probably 140-145 at 5’10”. I weigh 175 now and it’s definitely my best weight give or take 5lbs.

Honestly, there’s no way to do it other than just become a fricking vacuum cleaner. Make yourself uncomfortable. It’ll get easier as your body adapts, but it sucks for a while.

If you’re concerned about sheer pounds on a scale, just eat whatever. If you want to gain muscle, try to hit 200+ grams of protein a day and keep a decent carb/fat balance for the rest of your calories.

It’s science. You can’t defeat science.

Find your maintenance calories.
Eat 500 extra calories a day.
That’ll be 3,500 extra calories a week which is 1 pound.

Eat a pizza and drink some Russian imperial stouts to go with it every night. You’ll gain weight.

This is me. 37 years old and at almost 6' and 155# now, I have to consciously try and eat more to maintain this weight. When I start to get around the 145 range, I look like a concentration camp person and it's not a look I care for.

Trying to get and stay around the 160 range by just eating more than I typically would or do

Do starting strength or strong lifts 5x5 or a similar program and eat everything in sight. Other user is right about 3500 calories per week over maintenance calories WILL result in a lb per week gained. An old school trick called GOMAD is drinking a gallon of whole milk per day mixed with a strength routine like starting strength. YMMV though

It took me a couple of years working out to really add the mass. I graduated high school weighing 135 at 5'11" or so, it took what seemed like forever to get to 155. I got stronger but the mass came slow. Now at 45 I'm 175 and what I think is the best size for me, still doing regular weights and other workouts. It'll come, but you need to do more weights. Break them down, push your limits (safely), get sore and repeat. Also eat a lot. Don't skip on lower body.

I was like you for a long time. 6’2” and with heavy lifting and bulking diets, the heaviest I ever weighed was 175 lbs. Don’t get me wrong, I looked good at that height and weight. But my goal was to get to about 190 lbs.

I’m now 40. I no longer “body build”, but I do try to maintain a regular exercise routine (mostly 30 minutes of cardio 3X per week). I now weigh 187 lbs. Almost to my goal.

ETA: Prior to getting into weight lifting, throughout high school and into my early 20’s, I was always about 150-160 lbs. I was called names like “bean pole” pretty regularly.
