I’m certainly no movie critic. I’ve enjoyed the other DM and minions movies.
It’s fun to have a day with the kids.
I thought this was kind of a mess.
1. Will Ferrel doing a French accent did not work and really took away the humor in his voice.
2. Cock roach man is just a bad idea for a villain.
3. There really wasn’t a central plot/storyline. It was just all over the place.
Easily the weakest of the franchise.

Even DM3? I thought that one was awful.

This entire franchise is horrible.

Beyond horrible, in fact.

My kids liked it. Isn’t that the point?

My youngest ranks the movies 2, 3, 1, 4. His criteria is largely whether he likes the villain or not. So El Macho, Brat, Vector, Maxime.

I don’t really understand why they got will ferrell to do a French villain. But then again Steve Carell has done fairly well as Gru.

I also rank this one last. Even past the minion movies.

I thought it was fun and funny. If you’ve enjoyed the other Despicable Me movies (and who doesn’t else you have a stick up your arse) then you will enjoy it.

Kids enjoyed it a lot.

Agree it was the weakest of the franchise. It still has plenty of entertaining moments. It’s problem was it had no idea what it’s central idea was. So it just threw together a couple of good ideas and tried to tie them loosely together.

My expectations were low so I enjoyed it. Throwaway kid level fun for the holiday

It was funny because they totally ripped off The Incredibles and don’t care who knows it.

You mean the rip off of the Fantastic Four?

Brat was a great villain. Hate to hear that this one isn’t high up on everyone’s list.

My kids loved it and I chuckled a few times. It exceeded my expectations and I definitely think it was better than the 3rd.

Kids enjoyed it enough to leave me alone for 90 minutes. I missed some of the middle during my nap but was able to catch up on the story pretty quick. I woke up right before the honey badger seen. From that point forward I enjoyed it.

I should have clarified in my original post. It was ok. I will watch again. But I loved Brat and think he was the best villain. I think there is a high bar in this franchise and I don't think this one got there. I thought the first minion movie also didn't belong on the same tier as the rest, but would watch again.

I thought it was the weakest of the 4, but my son at the end was like the Leo pointing meme.

It just felt like it was all over the place and they had an opportunity to create a really good movie but couldn't hone it in.

Went today with the step-kid. It was just ok. I enjoyed some elements of it but just didn’t feel like it was as cohesive as the others in the franchise.

I would’ve watched a whole movie of Gru mentoring Poppy though.
