Currently dealing with my 4th eye ulcer due to wearing contacts (take them out every night and change pairs once a month) and this shite is getting old.
Optometrist says I’m a great candidate for Lasik Surgery. Anyone have experience with it? Would you recommend it to others? Positives/Negatives?

I had PRK done in 2004 (same laser as LASIK, just different eye prep) and it was the best decision I could have made. I just started wearing glasses again due to age, but my prescription is minimal. Do it!

Had it last month, newer SMILE laser/process. I can see now, and it's better. I'm still adjusting to night/dark...I can see, it's just different. It's not just the halo thing, I can see light and dark at the same time and it's just different. That probably doesn't make sense, I can't explain it. Recovery was easy, but keeping my eyes closed the rest of the day of... That was weird. I would have scheduled it for later in the day had I known that.

Had it done last year after contacts for about 20 years
Took a bit for halo and dry eye to stabilize but that was far better than dealing with contacts and glasses.
I should have done it years earlier. Went to the EyeMed by the Lake it was so easy they do a great job.

I got it done over 20 years ago at the Williamson eye clinic (i think on Old Hammond). It seems to be holding up. Been close to 20/20 the whole time.
Total cost was under 2K. Recovery was a weekend, got it done on Friday morning, slept all day after. No issues and wasn't painful. I don't understand why everyone doesn't get it that's a candidate. There is no need to live with bad vision, if it can be fixed..

This sounds exactly like my situation. I wear daily’s, and I take them out every night. I’m on my second eye infection in as many months. I’m gonna have to go switch contact brands. I have to do that every couple years or so with my eyes.

Had it about 3 years ago. I would absolutely do it again tomorrow. No issues at all beyond the recovery period for me.

Best decision I made 2 years ago. Consult with someone at Williamson/whoever is nearest you. PRK might be another option as well.
Waking up and being able to see immediately without needing contacts/glasses.
Bright LEDs/light bars are REALLY bright, especially at night.

I’ve probably had 10 total eye infections since I began wearing contacts in 2007. Strangely all in my left eye. shite sucks! Ulcers have been more of the recent problem. shite can be bad if not caught in time.

Had it approximately 20 years ago, but my cornea's were too thin for the latest tech at that time, so I had to have a different method (don't recall what it was called) and my eyes are still going strong. 20/20 in one eye, 25/20 in the other was the best I was able to get to.
I had depth perception issues when I played softball (struggled reading the drop when the lighting wasn't just right), but I'm too old for that shite now so it's a non-factor.

I had it 10 years ago when my prescription had stabilized for 2 years. I'm in the crowd that it's one of the best decisions I ever made.

24 years ago for me. I was 20/400 in each eye with astigmatism. Got to 20/20 in my left eye and 20/30 in the right. My up close vision was 20/20.. I had just turned 40 and the doc said if he enhanced the right eye to 20/20, I may lose my up close vision. I decided against and have been going strong since. I don’t need reading glasses at this point and I turn 65 in two weeks.
Definitely recommend it.
