Looking for Recommendations/Advice for First Time to LSU Game

Good morning everyone!
My friends and I (group of 7) will be heading down to Baton Rouge this fall to cross off a bucket list trip and attend a Tigers game.
We're a group ranging from 42-44 that have been talking about it for years but we finally made it happen this year.
None of us live in the area (we are all flying in), and so setting up our own tailgate is a no-go for us.
What recommendations do you have as "must do" since i'm guessing this might be a one time thing (unless one of our kids ends up attending LSU).
What advice would you give for a group like ours for eating & having a few drinks before the game (none of us are heavy drinkers anymore).
Any feedback will be great, thank you very much!

Go see Mike's habitat.
Watch the band march down Victory Hill.
Chimes near campus has good food, drinks, and a rooftop bar.
Enjoy the tailgate.

Welcome to the greatest game day experience in sports! There will be a ton of these kinds of threads throughout the season. Some important things to understand before you get here:
1. Traffic is going to suck. Just accept it when making decisions on where you will stay.
2. The opponent and game time matters as much as LSUs hunt for the playoffs.
3. There is a list of must do’s that will be posted like visit Mike’s cage. Watch the band march down Victory Hill pregame, etc. I’ll let those thread handle that.
4. Where your schools colors regardless of school and tell people this is a bucket list. Just walk up to them and talk.
Others will give details…

Here are some links from the past.
Definitely go see Mike in his habitat. Best thing to do is just walk around and tell people y’all are from another state and lsu tailgating / game is a bucket list and you will have more than enough food/beer/booze than you know what to do with. Tell them frick Alabama or frick aTm and you’ll make friends very quickly
Do not go to walk ons. The food and quality of that has gone downhill so much. People will be making all kinds of Cajun food at tailgates and would be more than happy to feed y’all.
What college are y’all fans of?

after you cruise around campus and take in the sights that everyone is recommending, come to the intersection of Skip Bertman Dr and Nicholson Ave. Right at that corner, which is the west side of the stadium, you'll see a row of tents for "Hoppy's Corner". Food and drink aplenty. Come stop by.

Hope it’s a night game and not 100*
You’ll enjoy it - walk around and talk to the tailgaters

Lots of feedback & responses already, thank you so much!
To those that asked, we are coming November 9th for the game against Alabama. If its 100 degrees in November, well, that's just bad luck
The college teams we are fans of - none of us are really that diehard on any teams because we all went to colleges with terrible football programs HAHA. (Example - I'm a graduate of Butler in Indiana).

Oh boy. If LSU has 1, or fewer, loses at this point then this trip will absolutely be well beyond even what you can imagine. Get there early and soak everything in. Just walk around and people will direct you where to go, as well as probably feed you and get you drunk.

You chose the right game. Should be one of the better gameday atmospheres of the season, regardless of records.

Alot of folks fly into NOLA and party down there Friday night. Its roughly an hour drive from NOLA to LSU.
Depends on the game and what TV does to the kickoff time. Late game/night game is what you would want to experience. Tailgating better all day.
Go see Mike, walk campus, see band and team walk down victory hill, get in stadium early enough for pregame and band.
Plenty of tailgates to stop in. If friendly and wearing LSU gear, you'll be welcomed to any spot.

You're going to have a great experience at that game. Hopefully, it's a night game. It should be.
Whatever you do, PLEASE report back to us on your experience!

Come back to board that game week and I’ll get you directions to our tailgate and all specs. As mentioned it will be epic and you’ll be happy you came..

You picked the best possible game, it'll be a great atmosphere for Bama. Like others said, just find some people, tell them your story, and they'll feed you, no questions asked. It worked for me.
I'm coming to the same game, and will be on the Old Front Nine, but there's no wrong answer. Just get there early, because LSU tailgating is an all day affair. And be ready for traffic after the game, because there's no way around that.

Make sure it’s an SEC opponent; big difference.
