Which one do you respect the most?
Personally, I think that Bill Snyder deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.

Any division?
Does Brian Kelly not count since he won two at the Divison 2 level

I think if they didn't win a DI championship, they qualify.

Well I now retract my earlier statement about him flaming out at The U, thank you
Very respected coach both on and off field

Beamer and Snyder are excellent choices on this board. They inherited, truly, two of the worst programs in D1 history and turned them into national powers on a consistent basis. Both came close to winning the national title in the late 90s.

Virginia Tech wasn't a garbage program when Beamer arrived in 1987. They had the 30th most wins in college football history at that time (according to the excellent Stassen website).
K-State, on the other hand, was probably the worst major power conference program in D1 history before Snyder got there.

Paul Johnson.
Did it his way better than anyone and proved a LOT of people wrong, all while inspiring some great writing at EDSBS

Bill Snyder and Don Nehlen was underrated at WVU.
Don Nehlen. 1993 National Coach of the Year in leading the West Virginia Mountaineers to their second undefeated regular-season in six years (11-0 in 1988 and 1993). He retired from coaching in 2001 with an overall record of 204-121-8, making him the 17th winningest coach in college football history.

Obviously need to include the winningest coach in college football history then, John Gagliardi with 489 wins

Bill Snyder, Mike Leach, and Kirk Ferentz.

That's remarkable to me honestly. They had one conference championship in the 90 years before Beamer arrived. Much less a national championship.
