If so, where did you buy your parts? I'm looking to convert a turkey set up to a home defense set up and really just looking to extend the tube, add some form of rail system, and a collapsing stock with pistol grip or folding stock would be ideal.

TIA

Bought a 14” barrel off of GB and put Magpul stocks on it. It’s a SBS now.

Is it a mossy oak 11-87? If so I’d leave it like it is. Those things are pretty valuable these days.

Either way, I wouldn’t trust an 11-87 for home defense.

Nah, not a Mossy Oak. Just an 11-87 Special Purpose

Yall be educating me today. Drug that gun all around the marsh and never had an issue with it.

Are they unreliable? Wont shoot low brass for shite, but it's taken everything else I fed it.

Yes and no. My comment was based off of a club member who had issues with one in the blind years ago. To me, I want a self defense weapon to work flawlessly all the time. Newer automatics tend to be more reliable with a variety of shells, but, each individual gun can be different. If you’ve but a lot of shells through it and trust it yourself, it should be ok. But when you said turkey setup, I figured it hadn’t had many shells through it.

I personally decided to move away from a shotgun for home defense to a pistol caliber carbine. Mainly because it will be easier for my wife to use if she needs to.

I have a PCC for defense now, but watched a clip this morning from Aurora of 7-8 armed venezualans taking over an apt and got me thinking about how buckshot is virtually undefeated. Still tinkering with the idea.

I mispoke - Special Purpose - came with a turkey barrel (shorter with front and rear sights) and a longer barrel with the bead. 5 chokes.

Can you pull the plug out of a Remington 870 and load with buckshot? I've actually done this with a magazine extender. Can't remember where I bought that stuff but it was off the internet. I used it to shoot armadillos around the property at night.

Just keep the 11-87 as is, and get you a Mossberg pistol grip 590 shockwave in 20ga. I got one earlier this year, and not only is it fun as frick to shoot, it will also put quite the hole into an intruder's chest.
