Watched this masterpiece again last night for the first time in a few years.

Maybe my favorite movie of the last 15 or 20 years.

One of the few movies to come out in that time frame that had me laughing out loud.

Haven’t seen it but I have seen clips of Jason Issacs in the role of Georgy Zhukov. Looks hilarious.

Me too. Shame that seems to be a rare thing lately.

One thing I loved is they didn't even try Russian accents for the main characters, and there were a lot of Brits in the cast. If everyone had tried Russian accents the result would have been terrible.

If anyone hasn't seen it, Armando Iannucci did In the Loop several years before The Death of Stalin and I think it's even funnier. More of a straight comedy about British bureaucracy. Peter Capaldi has a GOAT role in it. And if you like that it's based on a TV show - The Thick of It which is great, if you can find it.

The first 20 minutes at the piano recital and then when they discover him after the stroke are incredible. Great movie.

It's amazing how true to history the movie is. The death of Stalin went down almost exactly like the movie lol.

It's a huge, subtle indictment of the bureaucratic police state in a transition period.

I watched it last year. No one liked it when we watched it as a group. Could have been something in the air.

I ended up just Wikipediaing the real life history for a lot of it

When they were trying to find a doctor and then no one wanted give them the diagnosis.

And then Vasilys reaction had me laughing.

Jeffery Tambor had some great scenes as well
