But unfortunately the kids influenced him more than he influenced kids and it’s showing in a big way. He also looks stressed all the way out and it’s hard to take him serious as a man.

He surrounds himself with people who validate every decision he makes, and that made him more tone-deaf than he was before

Nope, deion has always been about deion first and foremost, and still is. He hasn't magically tranformed into some altruistic guy, he's just created more deions.

And then the lights and cameras showed up and the good intentions went poof.

You must be too young to remember Deion as a player. He was always this cocky, arrogant, and had a huge ego.

His ego was in check somewhat at Jackson State because he didn't have a national media spotlight there or ESPN talking heads predicting his team as a national title contender.

I was going to say something similar. He doesn’t care about the kids. If he did, he wouldn’t have been such a dick when he originally came in and basically cut the entire team immediately

I don’t. He wanted to coach his sons and build his brand. He will leave Colorado after 2025 season.

He's a con man. He convinced all star players to go to an FCS school, then predictably destroyed the competition. Now, his complete lack of coaching skill is being exposed.

Right! I never think of him as Coach Prime. To me, he will always be Neon Deion!

In reality, I don't think Deion is sitting around plotting as to how he can use Colorado and exploit his situation to glorify himself. It's innate.

I think the good parts of his nature and his extreme narcissism and need for praise are so inseparably intertwined that there is no meaningful difference. He does some good things and probably enjoys doing them and helping people, but they're also orchestrated to bring praise and attention to himself and he might not even realize where one stops and the other begins.

Deion is good at elevating himself, and if he can tie himself to something and elevate himself, it may elevate the other thing as well. But that's messy, and often short-lived, and here I'm never sure it was very viable at all.

TBH, he's exactly like another prominent celebrity figure who is very talented, that many people love and who when everything is aligned, can really benefit whatever cause is being served (but who can be easily derailed with ego and vanity).

I have come around to the opposite view. He never had good intentions for Colorado's program. The only players he gives a shite about are his kids and Hunter.

When you act like a victim all the time... eventually you really believe you are a victim.

The only other people Deion thinks about are his sons.

Maybe Travis Hunter who chugs the Flavor-Aid willingly.

Even then, Prime is #1 and everyone else is to bow to him.

It's been a money grab on both sides the whole time, and it worked.

True story: I knew an athletic trainer in college that was very well respected. Every summer he worked the Atlanta Falcons training camp. He said Deon was very loud and brash because he was very insecure. He said Deon paid three guys to be around him 24/7 as his friends.

I sent a text to Deion to ask him about altruism as a coach. Here's his response:

I think there might be some truth in this, but currently his only intention is to boost draft stock of his kids and Hunter. You can see this in the game plan clear as day. I agree with all the things being said in this thread. I also think plain and simple it was much harder than he thought. The whole coaching gig. Especially in today's game/climate. I think he thought he was going to touch down in Boulder get all the great recruits and roll teams. I think since then he has seen shite aint that easy and he is now in just help my kids mode and when they go to the league, he's out like a fat kid in a game of dodgeball.

Deion can't even measure up to his own arrogance. it's the worst look of all. you can pretend to have good intentions but that only goes so far. he's essentially the worst kind of a-hole doing it for the most selfish of reasons.
