I know it’s been discussed here before but any suggestions? I’m tired of paying to get someone else to grind a deer. All my family will eat is the back straps and hamburger meat.

Bought one from meatyour maker a few years back. They're on sale. Best I found in my research.

Which one? I’m going look at them. Is a .5 HP good enough?

That must be the one I have. It's fairly large.

I have the Meat You Maker #32 grinder, love that thing along with the rest of their products I own.

The size grinder you choose to go with should be determined by you. How much you plan to grind? The smaller the grinder the longer it takes and you have to cut everything down smaller to fit the throat also.

I already owned one of the larger Kitchen Aid mixers that essentially has PTO capability. The grinder attachment has worked well and would be worth a look if a multi- purpose machine interests you. The bigger ones aren't HGTV kitchen toys, either-- they're heavy and well made. My girlfriend jokes that I like using it because it's like a kitchen drill press, and she's not wrong.

I think Lem, Meat!, Weston are good quality ones. I would go with a #22 which will give you power and speed. I don't know if the Cabelas #22 is any good or not. I have the Cabelas #42 and I wouldn't recommend it. It doesn't feed to the grinding plate properly. It's almost like there is too much gap between the auger and the tube grooves.

But I'm grinding whole chickens/rabbits. But where my Cabelas really fails is soft meats like liver. Imagine a meat grinder failing on liver. lol. That's why I won't recommend them, but I think that problem is reserved for the #42 big daddy grinder.

Santa brought me the .5 HP last year. I've ground three deer with it and Its waiting on me to feed it, can't keep up with it. Very pleased.

If you're only doing one deer at a time I'd go with 0.5. I have a 1 hp weston and it's a bitch to take out and use if I'm just doing a little bit.

With it being #8 and only 575 watts, does it clog easily. That’s my main concern. I don’t won’t to be constantly having to stop and clean it because of the fat

I processed 40 lbs of ground meat last Saturday and had no issues.

I've never had it clog. I've put up hundreds of pounds of ground meat using it.

Have the same one, going on 8 years old. Hadn’t let me down yet. Instead of cutting my deer up in cubes I cut it in strips as wide as the throat and it seems to go a little quicker.
