Yes, good movie. The American remake was released in September.

I can answer this question pre-emptively (for me, at least): my wife.

I think it makes sense. The original very much speaks to specific Danish qualities. Having those same qualities in Americans makes no sense. I like that the Americans fought back

I think that the original was a far superior film, but the remake wasn't bad. I knew that the original ending wouldn't fly with American audiences. There were a couple of things that the remake did better....

SPOILERS:

It fleshed out the reasons why the British couple was doing the killing. They forced the victims to clean out their bank accounts and transfer the money. This was never shown in the original version. Also, it cleared up the reason why Ant couldn't warn Agnes in writing about his parents. He was Danish (in a clever nod to the original) and could not write in English. Also, Paddy clearly was abusing Ciara, so maybe she was, at least in the beginning, reluctant to go through with the plan.

Some people on here didn't like the remake, I personally did. James Mcavoy knows how to play unhinged and creepy.

Because I don't think that was the original filmmakers' intent. If I recall correctly, the original version was about a sadistic couple taking advantage of the social niceties of a Danish man. The fact that the couple had no other ulterior motives than to just be sadistic seems much more disturbing.
