I tried Lake Bruin for Crappie last year in February and early March. Fished two days under piers with livescope and never saw or caught a single crappie. Is there any structure in the lake for late spring crappie?

You'd probably get better info at the La. page on Crappie.com.

Not Bruin, but around here that time of year they are up shallow by the banks spawning in 2' deep or less.

All I can offer is that almost half the piers over there have brush on then end, if you saw nothing, they were in the shallows. You can blindly jig em in the summer bouncing dock to dock. But, aside from a few patterns as certain times of the year I have always found Bruin hard to figure, and I grew up fishing it constantly. My grandpa used to keep brushpiles out in it, and we did great in the summer time drowning shiners.

If you’re scopin, hit False River next month. Plenty crappie and plenty brush piles. Black and chartreuse 1/32 oz tube jig. You’re welcome!

People (not me) catch them on the south end of the lake in Brushy bayou during the spawn. Then shoot under piers for a couple months after. Then when Memorial Day and the wake boats crank up they go into hiding. Same with bass. You can spank the bass right now thru the spawn though. Bruin is a great cold weather bass lake.

ETA- if you're hunting brush piles, look around the buoys in front of piers. That's where they get dropped

I camped there once and the best pattern I found that weekend was chinqs by an island in the middle.
