Y'all heard of this?? GA just had their first confirmed case and lo and behold it's one county over from me. Apparently the meat is dangerous to eat and it spreads through the soil??

Yep. Been around for almost 60 years so hard not to by now.

It’s not capable of infecting humans in its current form. They suggest not eating the meat because that’s how it eventually would jump, but the risk is very very low. The biggest issue is that your state game agency is probably bout to come in and start blastin.

I don’t know. I figure someone somewhere has had to have eaten it. I figure if I shoot a good looking deer, I don’t want to know.

There was a thread about it earlier. I hunt in a CWD zone. Baiting and salt licks outlawed. Transport of deer out of the zone outlawed. No known cases right around us.

BIL claims they used to eat it. Went to college in Missouri probably 07-11/12ish. Game wardens allowed them to hunt at night and pile up deer. They’d get tested and returned to them, positive or not. He’s still not a zombie yet but the prions could definitely pose a risk I guess
