Welp.
Surprised by starting Ware, I figured wed see him but not starting.
Also surprised by no Larson.
And I guess Priester has struck himself out of meaningful 'snaps', I was expecting him to get a garbage start to at least see if hes serviceable

I don't know if that's entirely surprising, we all knew he was the third catcher which unfortunately means you aren't going to get a lot of opportunities behind Hernandez and Arrambide, both of which are starting caliber
I do think Priester gets some at bats but I'm not shocked he hasn't played much
And even behind him is Eddie Yamin, who has yet to debut, but they brought him in to develop
The depth on this team is so good, I think our backups at every spot would be a tournament team if they all started in a weaker conference

I can't wrap my head around Brown and Larson both on the bench for Frey and Pearson. I like both Frey and Pearson, but what does Larson have to do to stay in the lineup? You can't have a better game than he did on Sunday.

Southern must be throwing a lefty.
No Larson or Brown.
No Larson or Brown.

Agreed on Larson, I think he eventually settles in, Brown too, Josh Pearson becomes the DH

Guessing Southern is starting a slow throwing lefty. This lineup is almost identical to the Saturday lineup when PFW threw a lefty

Is this the first time seeing arambide behind the plate?

Arrambide played in every game this weekend, including one start, I believe on Saturday.

Getting Arrambide acclimated with ABs early in the season is likely more important than Priester getting a "garbage start" at this point in time.

They are. LHP Genesis Prosper who's also making his first start on the year

Dude you’re a frickin idiot if anything ‘surprises’ you at this point
He’s going to tinker with the starting lineups/rotations all year. If you think you, or anyone here on TD can read JJ’s mind well then I don’t really know what to tell you
And FFS, stop saying ‘welp….’ It makes you sound really feminine

I think he’s giving Frey every opportunity he can early to prove himself. At some point in the season, we will need another right handed bat. As far as Pearson, I guess I’d rather see him get midweek starts over weekends. I like the guy and he’s had some big moments for LSU, but Brown and Larson clearly are just better.

The Josh Pearson experiment needs to end

To add on here, Prosper had a 10.43 ERA last year with 8 appearances. Didn't make a start
