i have an eleven year old girl who is super interested in learning to shoot a bow. i know absolutely nothing about archery, bows, or anything like that, but i love that she is showing interest in what i think is a pretty cool outdoor activity. i realize that this is a super broad question, but can anyone give me any advice for like step 1a. that i should take to start facilitating this?
i have a friend nearby with some property that we could shoot at, so i at least have that problem solved.

Call your local 4-H Office and see if they have an archery program. They may have all the equipment needed and coaches to get a basic start to determine if it is something she wants to do. Shooting sports is one of the fastest growing youth activities and is pretty well supported.

Not sure where you are located but a local archery shop with a range would be a start. Go in and tell them what you are looking at doing and a good one will let you ahoot a couple of bows that are sitting around the shop and get you started on buying and setting one up.

Good for her.
I started shooting when I was 10. 35# Ben Pearson Javelina recurve. Still have that bow. Refinished it a few years ago.
Lancaster Archery, 3 Rivers Archery, Kustom King Traditional all carry youth bows. I’ve dealt with 3 Rivers and have had good experiences with them.
You will want to know draw length. Draw weight. Right or left handed. Bow length. Start off with a light draw weight. Have to practice to develop archers muscles.
YouTube Clay Hayes. He has some good instructional videos. Along with Fred Eichler.
Cabelas has a really good selection of bows and an archery range.
Local archery shops. They usually don’t have the youth bows selection that say Cabelas has. But they can get you on the right track for shooting clubs and outdoor ranges (which are a lot of fun) around your area.
Welcome to the show and hope she enjoys it as much as I do.
