Nobody noticed that Chuck Mangione died while were all crying over Ozzy.

84 years old. Guy had a helluva run in the 70s &. 80s. As a young horn player, he was a hero to me. “Feels So Good” was One of the best selling jazz albums of all time.

Same thing happened to Farrah Fawcett. She happened to die on the same day as some singer named Michael Jackson.

Chuck Mangione should've recruited Randy Rhoads , then we would've noticed.

There is an almost 10 minute extended version of FSG for all you jazz/pop 70s bros -
There is also a 22+ minute version, which is too long to be posted on TD.

I don't think they announced it until today.
If it was to not let Ozzy's death overshadow it their timing sucked with The Hulkster jumping off the top rope on Chuck

He is living in a Mega Lo Mart somewhere. Maybe Arlen, Tx.

That guitar solo on Feels So Good is still one of my favorites.

Back around 1966, for a brief period, he was in Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, and the pianist then was Keith Jarrett. Only released one lp with that configuration, a live lp called Buttercorn Lady. Here's a cut from it, and it features Mangione. Outstanding playing by him:

Is the bolded part meant to be snarky? Cuz it reads like it’s meant to be snarky.

Sorry but Ozzy was a bigger deal. If you would ask random people on the street nobody would know who Chuck was. Ozzy was a pop culture icon who helped created a music genre. Had 3 reality shows, was in movies, ate a bat, peed on Alamo, snorted ants, had a music tour named after him, and has his own serious radio station. Oh and Books. But no Chuck is a bigger deal who I never knew was still alive until this week.

Where did I suggest that Chuck’s was a bigger deal than Ozzy?

Mangione popped up on YouTube Music so people did notice. However I didn’t know until seeing this thread. Those old videos from the 70s show how professional those older Musicians were….
