I have been following politics for most of my adult life fairly close. But I have never got the Israel thing from both sides.

I don’t get why someone like Pam Bondi needs to bring up anti-semitism at college campuses in context to CK’s assassination.

I also notice there are certain right wing influencer/commentator types that believe everything is caused by Israel.

I simply don’t think much about Israel at all. Other than the religious significance of the area, it is basically New Jersey with sand.

Cant stand Israel, or the continued gaslighting tactics to support that organization.

Pro-Israel here. Lots of dishonest gaslighting going on. But also, lots of legitimate criticism. It's a HIGHLY flawed country. Thus, criticism. Also, derangement.

You start off with a pretty inflammatory title there if you’re truly interested in an honest discussion on the topic.

My own perspective is that there are huge violent opinions on Israel because it isn’t a good vs bad subject.

At best it’s a gray vs gray topic and with the way things have gone over my lifetime it might be a black vs black issue.

I can objectively provide absolutely horrible and unconscionable things both sides have done with regard to themselves, each other and the US.

I also believe objectively that the best thing the US could do would be to stop putting itself in a position where we are interjecting ourselves into other nations conflicts that go back millennia without any tangible benefit to the average American or any advantage to our position in a geopolitical sense. We are allowing Israel to drag us into their fight without receiving anything in return and therefore the MAGA movement is right to question every facet of our “alliance”, foreign aid and involvement in their disputes.

I would also ban all foreign interference into our political system via propaganda, lobbying (AIPAC AND Muslim/Qatari/SA) or the purchasing of influence via business deals with politicians or their families as it drives decisions not otherwise in the average voters best interest.

I want out of their business and them out of ours immediately.

Just an FYI, America first does not mean anti-Israel. Furthermore criticism of the current political leadership in Israel does not mean anti-Israel.

I have a friend I've known for over 20 years I recently had to block because he got IDS. The stuff he posts is insane. None of it even makes sense. The thing is, he's not mentally ill or on drugs, he's super conservative and MAGA, but over the last couple years has come to hate Israel, with the same derangement that the TDS people have.

ETA- not just me blocking him. Some other mutual friends have also blocked him. He's running out of friends fast. I don't mind him posting crazy shite, doesn't offend me, but he started tagging us in his crazy shite so we really had no choice.

The infatuation is mostly from boombers. When they die out Israel you'll see the public blind support wane significantly. That generation has been brainwashed to believe that Israel must be protected at all costs or else we all will burn in hell.

As far as government, it's all about money and influence. Israel executed one of the most successful intelligence operations in history in how they systemically bought a vast majority of American federal politicians, and continue to do so as new ones roll in.

To be fair, like with TDS, both pro-Israel and anti-Israel fanatics could be categorized as suffering from IDS.

It seems like most things our government concerns itself with provides no tangible benefit to the average American. Our whole government is just a big dog and pony show that exists to enrich politicians and their friends.

I do believe they have a better feel for America's pulse when it comes to response. In recent conversations, I have heard and read enough recently to notice the increased chatter. But I am old enough to know this chatter comes and goes and also see the efforts of those who feel marginalized because of who they are.

The left has slowly been anti-israel for years because more of them are muslims each year and if you look at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict Israeli/ are slightly whiter which makes them the bad guys in a liberal good and bad scale.

The far right has really gotten load since the trump admit refused to release all the epstein documents.

Realistically, AIPAC absolutely used
money to heavily influence congress into supporting israel. They’re pretty open about that being their purpose.

Simultaneously, most americans don’t care about that enough to vote against AIPAC candidates. Trump ran on a very pro-Israel platform.

Outside that, the idea that israel owns the us is just i trying to bait people into hating israel.

Well, its not necessary. Israel had them on the ropes in just 10 days with ease. They dont need our help. They have it covered.

Some of the biggest critics of the current leadership in Israel are Dave Smith, Russell Dobular, Keaton Weiss, Max Blumenthal, Batya Ungar-Sargon, and
Katie Halper just off the top of my head. Guess their ethnicities?

For me it's a religious thing. I 100% support GOD's chosen, the people of Israel.

That said, I see a secular and warmongering Israeli government, and a wholly evil Israeli intelligence complex. They do not represent the people of Israel, whom I support.

It's a complex issue.

In many ways I feel the same about my own homeland.

I assume you mean boomers but don’t you think it’s disingenuous to always go to that as answer? Yeah, we have a bit of a the advantage over younger folk but Americans overall is 73%. So Protestants are high so maybe it’s more about ideology.

We are just about the only country on Israel’s side right now. The world sees what’s going on over there and it’s what Charlie Kirk started talking about. Netanyahu is a war criminal. He allowed Hamas to slaughter his people for 6 hours before responding in order to justify what he’s doing now and drag us into it.

Yes. Autocorrect changed it. I'll edit and fix.

And I don't think it's that disingenuous. If you check surveys theres a legitimate gap in do-or-die Israeli support between the boomer generation and millennials and Genz.

I would be curious to see any correlation in religious ideology between the generations to see if there is a causal relationship, but it still doesn't change the real stereotype about boomers and Israel.

For a way too large part of that generation if they will be honest with themselves, they believe in Israel First, not America First. They would intercept a N-ICBM headed for Jerusalem over one headed to Manhatten, Kansas if they had to make the choice.
