That would be a great start on next year.

So does he try & change the offense in only 30 days or so?

I think it would be good to bond with the current players and find out which players he needs to keep.

The offense could be improved dramatically just by stopping the 6 yr old randomly smashing buttons playing Madden style of play calling LSU has been using.

Our offense has struggled all year…it can’t hurt to have a fresh set of coaches get involved

It would be abnormal. 99% of the time coaches let the interim coach finish out the bowl game while watching from a box or something.

Brian Kelly coached Cincinnati's bowl game when he took that job. I can't think of anyone else who's done that.

I'll take your word for it. I'm not sure what normal is- BK didn't, but we know he was just here for the $800K pwe month, so maybe a more bought in Kiffin would?

But there is so much more to being a head coach than the actual on-field stuff; if he wanted to spend this time getting his analysts and coaching staff finalized, letting is Strength coach get the lay of what's available and iron out what he wants to do going forward, that might be more valuable.

I think he could coach up Van Buren in this time, but I don't think Van Buren will be anywhere near LSU's QB room next year, so I don't think that would be a valuable use of time...

I wonder what the history is on that? I know coordinators have done it. IIRC, Tepper coached the defense in the Indy bowl when Dinardo hired him.

He doesn’t want MVB to have anything to do with his tenure at LSU

If he can, Nussmeier should get better real quick so he can show scouts he still knows how to throw a football
