Almost every problem with the CFP ties back to the fact that we are using bowl games for quarters and semis 4 weeks after the season ends.

We have to make a choice.

Either we do home games every week until a neutral site champ game, or we move the bowls earlier, or we go back to a plus one format.

No it doesn't. Almost every problem with the CFP centers around manufactured controversy. Why because that's what sells. This entire playoff system isn't about finding a true champion its about generating money via selling ads.

Most of the controversy centers around polls, who was left out, and WTF are G5 schools in the conversation. We've worn that narrative out over the past month. We have an upset so we create a new controversy about the layoff and bye week is now a disadvantage.

If the layoff becomes a statistical anomaly then the simple fix go to a 16 team playoff or an 8 team playoff. Since we're selling ads it will be more games and will remain on New Years why because there is a huge void of entertainment here!

New Year's would completely suck if we took away a day full of good football games!

I agree. So end the playoffs and return to the bowls. Nothing wrong with having two teams claiming the national championship. In fact, it gives the fans something to argue about for 50 years. It' great.
