POTUS unleashed the almighty American spirit on Venezuela. They were a thorn in our side for decades. Everyone else accepted they would collaborate with terrorists, China, Russia. Send us migrants and drugs. Trump dropped his nuts on them and took them out in 2 hours with zero American deaths and minimal equipment damage.

This will go down as a textbook operation. America is better off today than it was yesterday. And some of you still want to pearl clutch.

Until he does the same with the deep state, our lives will be unchanged by it. I could care less, but not that much.

The deep state is its own thing. He has taken steps to rooting that out. Hegseth would never be sec of def if things hadn’t changed in that regard. We certainly wouldnt have the great Stephen Miller.

Getting rid of a dictator who purposefully flooded our nation with millions of migrants and countless drugs is a win. Objectively. Why do people want to pretend that isn’t a win? Do you like being miserable?

I agree with the concept that Maduro needed to go and applaud the reduction of communist influence in our hemisphere.

However, we suck at Nation Building, and I'm fearful this could turn into a long term engagement where we are left holding the bag for a decade or more.

I hope I'm wrong, but our track record with great things after military regime change is not good.

We aren’t going to be nation building. Nation building is the mistake. The British kept their empire going by *not* nation building - they just did punitive expeditions and rocked the world of countries who fricked with them and dipped.

We have spent trillions trying to fix countries who hated us before we rocked their world. And they obviously still hated us after because nothing seriously changed for them.

This is a case where the people do not want our PITA, and we got rid of him. They don’t have a beef with us. They just wanted their corrupt strongman out, who made his money off being a launchpad for Chyna, Hezbollah and Russia

Remains to be seen.

Remnants of this system are still present in Venezuela. I doubt all of those folks are just going to pack their bags and peace out.

Again, I hope I'm wrong but there is potential for long term engagement here at significant cost of US blood and treasure.

The upside is the natural resources Venezuela holds do hav epotential to offset the treasure investement.

This was something long over due. Our Country is safer. That is all that matters at the end of the day.

Trump is not going to spend the rest of his tenure nation building Venezuela. I would bet my entire net on that.

We might put boots on the ground - he has even said so. If that’s what it takes to clear out their cartel, China leadership, I am good with that. It is unacceptable to have a nearby country send unlimited migrants and drugs at us and just eat it. That’s not America first. Poland has to deal with that from the EU and Belarus. The EU tries to force them to send migrants, and Belarus/russia sends waves of Muslims at them. And they use their military to send them all the frick back home.

Textbook would’ve meant a lot less leaks to press and betting markets.

Also, can we wait to reserve judgement at least a little while? The track record for US military forced regime change is atrocious (if you could even call it that, Maduros VP just got the job).

People had been betting on that for months. Anyone smart knew Trump wouldn’t start a fight before Christmas.

That doesn’t explain the highly irregular activity. Calling that purely a coincidence or lucky is delusional.

People knew.

It's great that we extracted Maduro and his wife and only killed 40 or so people in collateral damage.

What else has changed? Maduro's equally illegitimate Vice-president has succeeded him.
