ok maybe not quite that long
anyway, i usually buy cans or 2 liters for mixers that sit around for months and go flat.
i only bought it because i picked one out of the carton and noticed it said CANE SUGAR on it.
No label, no fanfare, just apparently they are using sugar again.
so spare me the science of how high fructose corn syrup tastes exactly like sugar because this was the most delicious coke i've had in YEARS hands down. put it in the freezer for 10 minutes before drinking it and it really did take me back to grandma's house.

Once I discovered Mexican Coke with cane sugar, that is all I will usually ever buy if there is a choice. It's a lot better.

FYI the original ones were 6.5 ounces not 8

i guess they just didn't fill them up as much or something.

actually the damn 6.5 is a significantly LARGER bottle than the 8. must be thicker glass.

Correct. They were designed/made to be turned in and refilled over and over. Hence the "money back bottle."
They were the GOAT.

look at that scarring around the bottom and midsection of the 6.5 glass
i'd say this one has been through the refilling machine plenty of times

Glass bottle cokes taste better no matter what.

If you ever come across any plastic Coke bottles with a yellow cap they are made with cane sugar and no HFCS to keep kosher for Passover

Interesting.
Might go out and buy some different Cokes and do a taste test with JD.

The Super 1 by my parents house has the mexican cokes on sale from time to time 10/$10.

My dad's hardware store had an old (60s or 70s era) coke machine where there was a column of bottles showing inside a door and little metal arms holding the cokes in. Also had Sprite, Dr. Pepper, and Welch's orange and grape. There was nothing better than pilfering quarters from the register after fricking around with hay bales or propane and then coming in the shop to grab a nice, cold co-cola in the summer.

I remember these very well. Also had a friend in the 90’s that had one of these machines and stocked it with miller lite

Yep we had one of these in college, filled it with beer many times. Sucker was crazy heavy.

If the US government hadn't put price floors on American sugar, we never would have used HFCS to begin with.

Those machines were the shite. Last one I used was outside of Bloomington, Indiana, for a Mr. Pibb. I feel like I can still taste it, and it was more than 30 years ago.

When I was a kid and lived in Pittsburgh every summer we'd drive to the Outer Banks in NC. On the way we'd always stop in a town called Breezewood, PA to fill up on gas and they had one of those machines and sold Mr. Pibb, which is the only place I had ever seen it. It was always a highlight of the year for me to get that ice-cold bottle of Mr. Pibb once a year.
