Honestly I'm surprised he hasn't portaled at this point but maybe coming off this season with low stock, he likes his chances better hanging around Kiffins offense.

Obviously he didn't come near the expectations we had for him but I'm not sure how much you can pin on him being a bust vs our shitty offense being a terrible fit for a big body, sideline route, intermediate-deep ball guy.

On a team that finds itself needy for wide receivers, if Anderson is what he was billed as coming in, that seems useful for a Kiffin offense. Just curious if we may have written him off too soon based on his performance in a dysfunctional offense.

If he can work on his hands he definitely can be of service. Ironically one of his better plays came against ole Miss. I’d love to keep the guy

he was never given a chance this past year. Nuss never even looked for him. It was a joke.

Guy can play.

He was totally wasted this year. Once MVB started he got a few balls thrown his way and did very well..

It was like Nuss hated him or something..

I honestly don’t understand why a single offensive skill player would portal away from Kiffin. He gives them the single best chance out of any coach in the country to be utilized and turn into their maximum potential, whatever that may be. It’s mind boggling that these kids aren’t dropping to their knees and screaming God’s praises in the middle of the quad for giving them Lane Kiffin after they played under Joe Sloan and Brian Kelly for 2 years.

Should be the same story for almost every player, but I think their agents are making the decision for them.

I know for a fact that he had a pretty serious injury through camp that nagged him the rest of the season. I think a healthy Anderson will be very helpful.

If I played offense for LSU, with Lane Kiffin coming in — no WAY I’d transfer out. It could get electric on offense at LSU.

I don’t know what some of these kids are thinking. I’d stay, try to get the start, see what happens. If someone else would pay me any real money to transfer out, I’d figure I’m good enough for Lane to use me at LSU. If I couldn’t start for Lane, I wouldn’t think I’d get to start elsewhere.

It is honestly surprising to me that we have so few WRs that felt like staying was their best option. It will of course depend on who we get at QB, but I'd be excited if I'm Nic Anderson to have Kiffin and Weiss coming in. A big part of their philosophy is taking downfield shots when they get 1 on 1 coverage, so Nic Anderson and Jackson Harris are the kind of guys you would want to see out wide. Really thought Taron Francis fit that mold, too, but oh well.

I'm not going to judge the worth of any player in LSU dogshit offensive approach of the last 2 years.

By way of just one example of how a bad scheme/approach can make an otherwise solid player look awful, look no further than Damone Clark.

In 2019 he was a solid reserve LB who made some good plays in Aranda's defense. Then in 2020, Orgeron, because he's the COTY, decides he's going to shock the college football world by running his "attacking" 4-3 defense which can only be described as prime 80/90's Miami combined with prime '00's USC. The result was one of the worst defenses in LSU history and a player who had looked really good in 2019 suddenly looks lost and awful.

That continued into the 2021 season. In the first 8 games that year Clark had a total of 1 sack and 7 TFLs. The LSU defense as a whole was giving up nearly 34 ppg vs. power conf. opponents.

Then after the Ole Miss game Lane Kiffin tells O his defensive approach sucks. LSU takes the bye week and TOTALLY changes the approach. The result? They hold an Alabama team who was averaging 42ppg in in SEC play to just 20. In the final 3 SEC games LSU goes from allowing 34 ppg to 20 ppg. Individually Clark "suddenly" becomes an ALL SEC caliber LB. He gets 4.5 sacks in the final 4 games compared to just 1 in the first 8. He gets 8.5 TFLs in the final 4 vs. 7 in the first 8.

Clark wasn't a bad player in 2020 and the first half of 2021. He just had the misfortune of having to play in an awful defensively approach implemented by a bad coach.

I like Nic and MVB, but Nic apparently did not record a stat in MVB's 4 starts.

Needs to get stronger. Very weak for a player his size, couldn’t outmuscle smaller DBs or win 1 on 1 balls this season.

Another example: Omar Speights in House’s defense in 2023 was the worst LSU LB i had seen since Thomas Dunson. He’s now an NFL starter and his DC is one of the top coaching candidates this year.

short answer- yes.

He needs to work very much in the S&C arena, mainly to get and stay healthy.

If he wasn't hurt so much this would probably be a very different question you posed.

Last year wasn't a great barometer for any of our offensive players. Hopefully a new system is what he needs

He wasn't the same player that was at Oklahoma. He had zero explosiveness off the line and didn't look remotely in shape. It had to be injury related. But he's been injured for basically two seasons now. The frame is there but he has to work his arse of this season if he's going to get on field.

I think a lot of these kids are getting bad advice from people who think they are better than they actually are. A lot of these kids don’t wanna work towards a goal and prove themselves. They want something given to them first before proving their performance.
