It’s not college kids. Who can afford to follow their team around the country for weeknight playoff games? Ole Miss/U playing on the west coast while west coast teams travel to Atlanta???

Read something today that LSU needs to bring in 30 transfers.

Nobody even knows when these games are anymore. Texas, OU, and Mizzou in the SEC. USC, Oregon, Washington in the Big 10.

Are 30-40 year old non college educated drunks the only ones that care?

I don't suspect these are the people generally "follow[ing] their team around the country for weeknight playoff games" either.

It does seem that CFB could be on a problematic trajectory, though. I realize a lot of folks get mad at that idea.

They want your TV and everyone else’s.

All the rest is gravy. Like NACAR, award shows, Facebook, and bad wrestling. It’s all advertising dollars and sitting down to watch commercials. The live part is simply for everyone else to watch.

Is it seriously that hard to go to ESPN.com?

This is the range I’m in, but college grad. I stopped caring. I was spending thousands of dollars year in my 20s on theme travel/tickets, etc. I haven’t done that at all in my 30s.

There was always a battle between alums and non-alums on the direction of a program. Ie…. When there was an arrest an alum cared/embarrassed, but not the non-alums. Imo the current status of college sports fits best for the non-alum, especially the ones that don’t really have a connection to the school thru family, etc.

For every sport, not just CFB, the target audience in 2026 is 18 to 49, urban, college educated, diverse in race and gender, and with disposable income.
