Dude, to an extent it's some dry humor on his part. Objectively, no doubt he realizes Pascal's Wager is absurd. NOT saying believers are absurd, just that it's a lousy reason.
Scott is pragmatic. Probably thinks it's bullshite, but why not have fun with it. I'm sure he's touched by people praying for him, this is probably his attempt to meet them halfway.
