Area 1
63° wind out the south
35 whelen

After yesterday’s little shite show, I decided I wasn’t ready to pick the bow back up just yet. So I headed north to a place I’ve never been before. Did some quick scouting, set up, and ended up having a spike and small 7 or 8pt chase a doe by.
Came back to the same area this morning. Hopefully that doe is still in here and will bring a good one by. Heading home after the morning hunt to get some things done around the house while it’s hot, but I’m planning to come back up this weekend when it cools back off.

At least someone is out there. A couple more days until I'll make my final appearance in the woods.

I'm done, but I don't feel closure for this season. I'll take the 16yo for the youth hunt Saturday probably, but I still have the itch to shoot something else myself. Considering Alabama or going somewhere with pigs. Probably won't happen just because all the usual kids activities bs is also ramping back up.

My freezer is full. I need fish more than I need deer but I need to get my lock on, climber and cameras out so I'm going for one last hooray. The meat will go to my boss. Weather looks great Monday and Tuesday so took some days off of work.

Same here. Gave 3 away to family and friends and donated 1 to Hunters for the Hungry. This coming weekend might be my last unless I get a wild hair to go hunt primitive. The wife has been ready for the season to end.

Curious, do you ever get in the box with the 300 and have 257 rounds?

Considering Alabama

If I was going to Alabama, I would go check out Black Warrior WMA for sure. They pull some absolute hammers out of there.

I got camp picked up and was going to head home midday, but the gf said she’s off tomorrow. Since I’ll spend the whole day with her tomorrow, I decided to stay for the evening, do some scouting, hunt, and then get home late.
About a half mile in I found a couple rubs and 4-5 scrapes. Kept going for a total of almost a mile and a half, but wasn’t finding any more sign. Turned around and headed back to the rubs/scrapes and sat down for the evening. Not gonna lie, I’m pretty whooped. These next few days off are much needed.
Good luck this evening to those battling the heat and skeeters!

Area 2
71*
SW wind

I have one deer for the year. The goal was 4…lol

Trying to get two before the end. Wife said I could hunt every afternoon after work. I may bring the tikka out Friday if the rain hits.

Tomorrow I’ll get back on coyotes when the sun sets too.

The deer really aren’t moving so I’m not expecting much.

Ended up with a nice fat doe. The boys had been throwing corn and I guess she was hoarding it.
