Wapo article

quote:

U.S. forces seized a Russian-flagged tanker Wednesday that had evaded a naval blockade near Venezuela, officials said. The tanker, known as Marinera, “has been secured,” a U.S. official told The Washington Post. “U.S. federal law enforcement personnel are currently on board it.” The official said the mission went off without any interference from Russian vessels.

quote:

In a statement, U.S. European Command said the vessel “was seized in the North Atlantic pursuant to a warrant issued by a U.S. federal court” for alleged sanctions violations. The Coast Guard had the lead for the operation with U.S. military support, officials said. The tanker has been pursued by the Coast Guard for weeks after the ship, originally named the Bella-1, evaded a naval blockade near Venezuela. In the time since, it sailed back across the Atlantic and re-flagged itself as a Russian-owned vessel.

Seems odd that the tanker is empty with oil when boarded up in N Atlantic. Since Venezuela just ships oil and is fishing boat port I’m just not sure why the boat would travel into Venezuela empty and leave empty avoiding the blockade. Just doesn’t make sound business to ride around doing nothing, well unless they have bales of fishing bait or gas cans aboard

Don't try to evade the US blockade. The message is the same regardless of where it originates - WaPo, TD, CNN

Yup, The United States of America owns the high seas. We're what is keeping world wide trade possible. Be very interesting if the US decided to protected only US flagged vessels and left all the others to pirates.

Weapons inbound, makes sense. But leaving empty instead of loading oil to another destination that would net income is odd so having something light enough that would both pay for weapons and be worth more than oil seems probable

Oh shite! It's on... But why would Trump do that to his very best friend in the world, besides Epstein that is, Vlad Putin? All the TDS folks have told me for 10 years now is that they are besties.

Weird.

You think those were fishermen on fishing boats with bales of fish and drums of fish? You fricking nerd.
