Leavitt & Williams vs smaller lesser known name

I would rather have kiffin go get a guy that nobody knows about like he did with Trinidad (not saying that it always works out in that case) instead of stealing a power 5 guy. Something about having your own guy make a name for himself at LSU rather than some kid come in looking for 2-3 million+. I don’t mind getting people at other positions and paying them and literally giving whoever this QB is an all star team. But I would like the face of the program in our QB to be an LSU guy and not some d bag who’s coming to under preform for an egregious amount of $. The only reason a small percentage of fans were still empathetic to Nuss was because he was a tiger his whole career. Can you imagine the hate a kid would get on this board if he takes a jackpot from NIL and under performs??

It would be deserved.

What an awful and dumb post.

You know he didn't go after Chambliss with the plan of him starting right?

That’s nowhere close to what top flight portal QBs are getting. Try 6-7 million

When was the last time Kiffin had a QB that underperformed? I really don't know because he's been so good at developing them and having them in the right system that it seems like he hasn't had one under perform in a while. I'm sure he's had one underperform as I'm not sure of all his QBs throughout the years, but off the top of my head I can't think of one.

This part is legit. I did hate to see how some fans treated Nuss after he waited his turn here. That's what those same fans want from players now days, but when they do it and end up underperforming the fans DGAF. I imagine it'd be much worse for a high profile transfer QB who underperforms while making a lot of money.

Gonna need one or two of the the JUCO/Ferris State types for depth too, but I'd rather spend big on a one year mercenary.

Yep, I was on Saints talk fairly often the first couple of years Derek Carr was our quarterback.
And just like carr, if you're a hired gun and you underperform, your fair game

I’ve seen this posted a few times from different people. Can we take a second to realize that Chambliss was brought in as a backup and just so happened to catch fire? I mean yes obviously it was a hell of an evaluation on LKs part to see that he had that potential, but 99.9% of the time, a D2 TRANSFER QB is not going to play like Chambliss has played.

So you think a chambliss is out there under every D2 rock lol. That CLK can go out there shake a tree and find one every year …someone that goes from D2 quarterback to SEC starter with all the accolades that he has leading you to the final four.
No, Chambliss is a unicorn and likely will never happen again

I agree! Landen Clark is my favorite QB of all the ones in the portal. I surely hope that he ends up on the roster of LSU in some capacity. I wouldn't mind him being the starting QB if the others fall through.

On3 continues to hear that the No. 1 ranked player in the Transfer Portal in former Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt continues to have a great visit to LSU. Leavitt arrived on campus on Monday and we gave the rundown on day one here.
Tuesday was more good conversations with Lane Kiffin and the coaching staff. He got a chance to look at the Virtual Reality simulator the LSU program has in place to better prepare their quarterbacks for game day.
Leavitt toured the campus, the facilities, Baton Rouge and hung around some of the players. Sources indicate the Tigers remain in prime position to land Leavitt.
Leavitt still needs to meet with General Manager Billy Glasscock. His visit will continue into Wednesday.
Kentucky is out of the equation for Leavitt. We’ll see if Miami makes a move. But as it stands now, Pete Nakos and I continue to like where LSU stands with Leavitt.

I honestly feel Kiffin will make it work at QB with whoever he gets. It's the offensive line that absolutely has to improve from this past season, if they're anywheres close to as bad as they were this year it doesn't matter who is back there.
