Planning a staycation weekend for our anniversary in Nola. How is the Hotel Monteleone in the FQ. Thinking of staying there and doing dinner at Irene's and next day brunch at Brennan's.

I'm a big fan, but haven't been in a few years, so you might want a more current opinion.

the monteleone is great. Another option right there is the Royal Orleans. Both have parking garages as well but don’t show up in an F250 LOL

They made me take my farm radio antenna off the top of my F-150.

I remember the rooms being small, but who cares, it's an old historic hotel... I mean how much room do you really need to sleep and have anniversary hotel sex?

I stayed there for a conference last year. One side was renovated and I believe they were working on the other. I stayed in the renovated wing and it was very nice.

OP ask for a room in the renovated wing when you book in case they haven't finished the other side.

Windsor Court is my go-to staycation spot. Great service, modern rooms but with a historical feel. Polo Club is a great pre / post diner spot. Central location.

They'll probably stay that size too. Remodeling anything in the Quarter requires lots of paperwork. That's why the hotels just on the other side of Canal have much larger rooms, etc.

both the monteleone and the Royal Orleans have a number of very small rooms in their inventory for a reason that is no longer a business concern…the individual traveling salesman. Back in the 50’s/60’s/70’s this was a thing, and New Orleans’ hotel room inventory was much much smaller.

At the RO the “individual traveler” rooms are pretty small, not much deeper than the foot of the queen bed. But they are priced less than a standard or “deluxe” room.

So there you go

Stayed there for 2 nights just before Thanksgiving last year. Great location and Carousel bar.

Nothing else stood out, but I still enjoyed it.

Get a suite with a view of the river. It’s great.
