IDK the answer but I would love to see Kiffin get us to a stage where (and just throwing out a number) the top-15 recruits from LA, sign with us and spend their entire college career here.

Not if you want to win championships. There are not enough quality players exclusively in LA to build an entire roster. Secondly, LSU doesn't control the interest of these recruits. They have priorities (you can list them if you want) that don't align with an objective to have a LA-Centric roster.

Players are wanting to start earlier and earlier. Sophomore is the new junior, so unless they're starting by then, we should brace ourselves for their departures. It sucks, but unless something changes, it is what it is.

That's not what he asked.

But to his point, a Louisiana focused roster absolutely lays the foundation for a championship team. Always has.

This year is a transition year, but the roster may end up having the lowest percentage of Louisiana players in a long time, if not ever, depending on how many that have entered the portal return to LSU.

Hopefully, this stabilizes starting next year and beyond.

Yep.

Kiffin has been ahead of many HCs in navigating this era, thinking outside the box, and he knows how fertile our recruiting footprint is.

I wonder if we could effectively 'shrink' our roster (say to 70), pay those well, plan on 3Y stay times. IOW, for a given recruit, you're expected to play early and leave for the NFL in 3 years.

I think the big idea is that our “base” of players are Louisiana & other gulf region HS players supplemented with the portal.

This year is a bit of an anomaly with the amount of roster turnover. There will always be some, but not likely this level.
