Speed Queen TC5 owners need some help with my new machine

We bought a TC5 a couple of weeks ago and have noticed when we use fabric softener, it does not all empty when it is supposed to. When the machine cycle is finished, there is still fabric softener coming down the agitator. Any one else experience this? Solutions?

Maybe try using an extra rinse option.
Could also try cleaning the dispenser. Fabric softeners can be pretty gunky if they're allowed to dry.

I always suggest using a 3rd party fabric softner dispenser
Machine dispensers always gunks up in the dispensers. But your dispenser is the most simple kind. The softner goes in a cup and spins out during the spin cycle. Unlike most other styles it doesn't use water to expel it.
So usually they 100% empty. To still have fluid would either mean too much is being used, there is a blockage in where it runs in the agitator or its not spinning at full speed. But if the latter your clothes would be soaked at end of cycle.

Napoleon, as this machine is brand new, do you think there is an underlying issue? Other than the fabric softener, machine has been great so far.

What cycle are you using? Normal or Heavy Duty? Heavy duty is the normal cycle. Gov regs made them change the names. Normal is a water saving cycle. Maybe this will fix things for you.

Always use the heavy duty cycle
And that is the only way to get hot or warm water

Learned something new. Thanks for posting this.

It appears that you might be using the fabric softener full strength. You should dilute it with water to the fill line.

Honestly that kind of fabric dispenser was used on whirlpool an be SQ for years. They commonly do this. . Cut down the amount of softner used by a little bit or run a second rinse. There is nothing mechanical that would cause that if its spinning and a new machine won't have blocked holes.

Yep.
I'll add something too. Not necessarily related to the OP, but my wife and I ruined a decent washing machine by using too much laundry detergent.
Try diluting the fabric softener with a bit of water and only use 1-2 tablespoons of concentrated detergent. Any more than that will gunk up the works and lead to a shorter life expectancy for your machine.

Another thing most people don't know is bleach casuses rust to form on metal. If you have a front loader with plastic bleach compartment you'll not have issues. But top loaders I see them rust all the time. Bleach is an oxidizer. You should dilute it if using in a metal top loader.
If the OP was a customer that called me my first thought would be overfilling the softner.
But i always suggest using a ball like i posted. It works so well.

Yes indeed. My garbage disposal started leaking out the bottom and it occurred to me that using bleach to clean things had probably sped up the death of that appliance. If you do use bleach, always rinse everything thoroughly.

Like others have said you will eventually have to clean the cup because it will gunk up over time. What I noticed that fixed the problem was using the higher end softener. The cheap stuff is thicker and causes it to gunk up much more. You also don't need to use as much as you think. A little goes a long way.

Let us know the result if you get it checked. We were looking at a SQ.

We always add a cap or more of water to the softener that we put in the dispenser.
This helps it flow better and not gunk up the dispensing outlets.

I just quit using the dispenser. Start filling the tub put in wash liquid and fabric softener as it fills. It helps preventing the gunk build up over time.

You can stick something in the switch that turns the machine off when you lift the door. I put a piece of foam in mine. It's on the right side in back or machine. Can put clothes in start filling and add soap etc like the old days.

No meaning to hijack- but our front load washer is needing to be replaced. We have swore for years we are going back to top load.
My question is what is better - TC5 or TR5? I keep reading that the TC5 is hard on clothes, but it seems to be the "classic" model.
Any real life input is appreciated
