Just saw this one tonight. It started a bit slow, but I really enjoyed it. Arnett killed it in this role, which is a recently divorced dad who discovers stand up at the Comedy Cellar and finds himself again through performing. It’s also about him just sorting out life through divorce. It sounds a bit depressing, and it is, but it isn’t all depressing. There were some good cameos and Bradley Cooper was fun in his role. The stand up itself wasn’t great but it didn’t really matter. That wasn’t necessarily the focus of the movie.
Arnett should win an award for this role.

This is one I want to see. I've been trying to watch more original and say... Deeper... Stuff.
So far my favorite movie this year has been the Rental Family with Brendan Frazier. Is this thing on was the other preview that caught my intention. I'll give it a shot.

Just finished it. Arnett brought the thunder in his performance. Lots of great situational comedy mixed in with heavy hitting drama and raw emotional conflict. Think the movie did an excellent job showing the complexity of relationships, specifically how people adapt to themselves and their partners lives changing over time. Bradley Cooper being in it seemed a bit odd, but I guess since he was the director and that this is a story based on someone’s real life he probably was close to makes it more understandable. Wish they would have done a better job as far as the stand up was concerned, but I understand that wasn’t the point of the movie. His set on relationship vampires would have gotten my applause if it were at a comedy show. As far as recent movies go I’d give it 9.0/10.0. GOB deserves his flowers, but idk if award shows are going to recognize his performance.

I need to watch this one. Sounds good. Reminds me of Ballywalter, which was a movie I watched on a flight one time on a whim that really surprised me with how good it was.
