I’m looking at doing a stage 2 camshaft upgrade to my 5.3 Silverado. Has anyone had any experience with having performance work done in the Baton Rouge area? I would appreciate any recommendations.

O&E in Nola or Schexnayder racing in breaux bridge are the closest people I know. All the BR guys I used to know are shut down.

Contact Kip Fabre in BTR. He owns Cam Motion, they ship cams all over. In their shop, has a number of world record holders, in the motor industry.

Cam Motion.

I’ve been saying it for years! All the other random boards don’t get near as many posts as car related questions on the OT

Question, how did many get involved in cars?
In my younger teens, we rebuilt many VW motors, pull them out, in the evening. Have them rebuilt and running the next day!

Still younger years, did machinist work, we did everything from stock to race motors. Motorcycles, Boats, Cars, we did them all.

Wasn’t too many in BTR we didn’t know in the profession. Some still in it, many of us, moved on.

My dad and uncles were car guys so I grew up around it. I got my first mustang and met a bunch of guys at the lake front that would later become some of my best friend but also business partners when we opened a shop building cars together. We ran that for almost 10 years before it slowed down and we all moved in with life. At our peak we had a couple true street cars, a 275 radial, true 10.5 and an outlaw 10.5W car. We hit a bunch of the big races yearly and had a couple rigs we followed the series with. Fast forward and we’re all old with kids but we still have a single turbo tire street fox body, a gt500 that’s goin to twins, and my gtr that we hit some events with. I still do tuning for our cars and a handful of former customers that became friends.

Honestly, I’d go ahead and dump you truck in a salvage yard and move on. That Chevy will disappoint you for the rest of your life and break down frequently.
