I'm making this thread to answer questions about the current events there and share my knowledge/experience with the board.

TD is a place where freedom of speech is alive and thriving. I'm an LSU alumnus and joined this site to get LSU baseball news.

If this is an unnecessary thread, then let it die. But I hope that by making it I can give back to a place that has given so much enjoyment and knowledge to me.

***

By way of background, my father was sent here by his parents at age 18 to attend university and received his masters in civil engineering. He moved back, got married, had my brother and me, and then moved us here when I was 4 years old because he wanted his children to live in freedom and be educated in America.

I've lived here for 35 years. This country has given everything to our family. We love this country immensely. My brother became a cardiologist, and I work in finance.

Our family was not necessarily part of the aristocracy before the revolution, but we were what would be considered part of the "educated" class.

Both of my parents had private drivers who drove them to the best private schools in Tehran when they were growing up. But everything changed after the revolution, and our family's prominence and status was no longer valid under the current regime. As you can imagine, we do not support them whatsoever.

***

Feel free to ask anything about the current events there or about my experiences/life. I've followed these matters closely for about 20 years, and my opinions are my own.

Oh, and nb4 the Trump "you have to go back" gif. I voted for him, and we plan to when this is all over.

ETA: I will be sipping on this BM as I answer questions.

Do you get tired of liberal white women trying to tell you how to think and act?

Thanks for your question. I'm not married yet but if/when I am able to go back I'll be scooping me up a nice little dime piece who speaks broken English and is looking for a Golden Ticket to move to the Land of Opportunity.

1. Persians are awesome.
2. How popular is the Shah really? I know he has a following, but how big is it, especially if you have insight into Iran?

Thank you for your question. I don't even pay attention to them. I think they are sad and funny at the same time.

I only deal with sane women. Ain't nobody got time for those dumbass bitches. Haha

Thank you for your question. Are you prepared for an extremely high maintenance woman in your life? If the answer is yes, wait until the greatest President in the history of these here United States of America aids the people of Iran in restoring the country to its rightful, free status.

Then go head on and get you a visa, go there, and scoop you one yourself.

This is a tough question. As you may know, the revolution occurred because students wanted change and embraced the Islamists. Big mistake.

The Shah was brutal. I wasn't alive during that time. What we see now is the populace yearning for change and embracing the most viable option.

I guarantee the older generations may not be as accepting because they remember the brutality.

But that brutality pales in comparison to what has been happening for the last 47 years.

Great question. As you may know, this has happened before.

But not on this scale and with such vigor. This time appears to be different.

What gives me hope is that the US has a President willing to do the right thing for humanity and planet Earth by coming to the aid of the people.

I am hopeful and if I were a betting man, I would say this is the moment, yes.

Lord willing.

Can you give us any thoughts of how, in your opinion, you see events unfolding? Who/which group do you see filling the power vacuum?

Why are you returning to Iran?
For how long?

Thanks for your input and support.

It's been a complicated relationship between the USA and Radical Islamic Iran since 1979, but, since this Radical Regime in Iran decided to get Nukes and massacre their own people, We the People of the USA decided that the Mullahs have had their fun and it's time that they answer for 1979 when they seized the US Embassy and took our people hostage.

Maybe people think we forget but, let me tell you, some of us never forget.

Appreciated!

It's something I've been wondering, where does it go from here.
Iran is not Iraq or Afghanistan, there are too many institutions for the US to... just impose democracy.

Some already existing faction/base will need to take control, ala USSR 1990, or Poland 1989.

Many Iranians who favor overthrowing the current regime claim that they and most of their countrymen are not true Muslims. Is this accurate or an attempt to gain support from us?

Must suck to know no matter how much you cry your opinion won't matter. You'll always have this place, though.
