Makes sense to me…

Does it really matter?

No but I feel much better NOT seeing us at number 1 tbh

Can't wait to see the team Jay Johnson has put together! Really hope the pitching staff can stay healthy.

Don’t need a poll tell us LSU is #1 go out and prove it. Ready to ride with Jay back to back

All good. Rankings don't really mean anything until after conference play starts. It's good to be ranked high to start the season, but it only matters at the end of where you're ranked. I'll take #1 in late June...

Without looking, Florida is top 15 and will be there until really late in the season despite shitting down their leg the first half of conference play. A&M is probably also ranked somewhat high.

Not until May

My thought is for you to choke on a bag of dicks.

D1 chose not to put LSU #1 to be different and to get pissed off clicks.
They are wrong!

Just make it to Omaha.

Especially when the best player they had is still at Virginia, and (arguably) their second best is at Tennessee now.
So they combined a team that got a national champion coach fired with a team that didn't sniff the post season despite starting the year as the number 2 team in the country. And are leaning on a coach looking for one last payday of desperate SEC money before riding off into the sunset after getting stale at his high academic school.
If not for O'Connor's previous championship, there would be almost no difference between his situation and Brian Kelly's.

No.
Perfect Game chose to put someone other than UCLA as number 1 to try to be cute.

I was surprised Perfect Game had UCLA at #5. I figured they would be the consensus #1 heading into the season. I can't ever recall a CWS team returning that much production. Plus, they added a pitcher from the portal that everybody wanted.

Am I dreaming or did UCLA have a ton of retention in their lineup last year as well?

They did. Most of their lineup started or played significantly as freshmen, last year they were sophomores.
Their pitchers were a little bit mixed, but they returned a couple guys who were juniors last year because they don't profile as impact professionals, at least yet.
They only took two portal guys. Will Gasparino, which helps with their power hitting and overall physicality. And Logan Reddeman, who pretty much slots in at the top of their rotation.
They also have a strong freshman class incoming.
ETA: It's weirdly a very traditional Big Ten way of building a team. On the old three year player cycle where you go all in on one class every few years and have them carry you until the cycle resets.
