How many of you live in a trailer?

I’ve actually never lived in one before. I’m very blessed.
For those of you who have lived in one, what was it like? What were the pros and cons of it?

I believe the preferred nomenclature is "double wide"
Also, there are millions and maybe even billions around the world living in poverty who would find living in a double wide a luxury.

I've looked at a couple of double wides while searching for lake property. Some of them have felt more sturdy than some of the free standing homes we toured.
Lending on them is a PITA though. I guess the fact you can pick them up and move them makes lenders jumpy. I also learned that they essentially have VIN numbers that are removed when it is "immobilized".

I used to stay in a man camp trailer in south Texas. Only pro was I had a full room and kitchen to myself. Con’s were basically having to be there and live in it.

The only pro used to be that they were cheap as shite but now I am seeing asking prices over 200k for fancified trailers.

There wasn’t many pros for me. I guess at the time it was cheap I was young and not married, not a lot of area to clean. The biggest con was keeping mice out of it. It’s impossible to keep a mobile home without mice. Hurricane Laura did me a solid and totaled it for me. I hope I never have to live in one again.

I don’t, but have saw many trailers I’d rather live in than some houses.

We've got some friends who put a double wide on some property they visit a couple of weekends a month. They are upper middle class Conservatives so they keep their things nice. Inside the place is very nice, they have a couple of feral cats out there so it helps with the critters. They've got a nice porch to watch sunsets.
Probably rather live there than our condo in Occupied Houston.

I rented one for 3 yrs after divorce while I was saving for a down payment on a house. Single wide, in a trailer park. The whole experience. I didn’t love it but, it wasn’t that big of a deal for me.

Lived in one in college. Cheap living and had my own bedroom which I liked. Haven’t lived in one since but it was much better than standard college housing.

Half the people in Lake Charles seem to live in them.
Buying a brand new double or triple wide seems like a whole lot better circumstance than over paying for these new builds.
I don't think those things appreciate though. Could be wrong.

I decided to downsize around 25. Found an office trailer frame. Built a tiny house on it. Put it at the back of the pasture and rented out the house. Did it for a few years before building new house.
Pros? It was under 600 square feet. 1 BR, one bathroom. 1 closet. Kitchen living area combined. It was comfortable. Cheap to heat. Cheap to cool.
I overbuilt the shite out of it.
I enjoyed it more than the 4br home I was in. I hadn't entered half the rooms in 6 months.
In restrospect, it caused a lot of stress. Likely contributed to first marriage ending. So...good with the bad I guess. Stressful but weeds out crazy bitches.
