Broken Arrow (OK) City Council denies zoning change for proposed Islamic center

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — The Broken Arrow City Council voted to deny a zoning change for a proposed Islamic center.
The meeting was held on Monday and addressed a controversial proposed Islamic center that would include a mosque.
FOX23 told you the project planned for south Broken Arrow, near Olive and the Creek Turnpike, has sparked strong opinions on both sides all across Green Country, including from state lawmakers and the Attorney General who’s now launching an investigation into who’s funding the project.
More than 1,000 people were in attendance for the meeting, and over 400 people signed up for public comment to share their opinion. Everyone in attendance came with their own personal facts, points, and wishes for the council.

Meet Barry, a 42-year resident of Broken Arrow who loves his city and his country.
In a powerful, standing-ovation testimony, he spoke truth straight from the heart:
"We have all assimilated to the US Constitution, which has given us all of our freedoms.
I say NO to an Islamic mosque because Sharia [Islamic Law], taught in these mosques, is not compatible with our Constitution.
We've been at war with Islam for 40 years - from the '83 Beirut bombings, to 9/11, to recent events in Iran where people are killed for wanting to escape Sharia.
I love Muslims, but they must assimilate like we did to enjoy America's freedoms."
Barry's clear, courageous words, along with other patriots, helped drive the City Council's decisive 4-1 DENIAL of the NAIT-linked mega-mosque rezoning.
Thank you, Barry, for standing tall and defending the Constitution! Americans stand with you!
This victory belongs to every Oklahoman who showed up, spoke up, and refused to back down.
Oklahoma patriots showed up tonight and the Republic is stronger for it.

Wasn’t following the story and wondered if the zoning board was simply denying that it had changed the rules, allowing so that an Islamic center could be built.

Yup, I can still love folks with some religious differences, but bloodthirsty assholes calling for Sharia & a 75 IQ society need to be publicly ridiculed, PARTICULARLY by other Muslims

We need every city/county in every state fighting this. People will show out once they know about it. Problem is too many go under the radar perhaps some states/cities/counties are lax in notifying about zoning changes and populace doesn’t know until its too late. Proud of my Okies!
