Wife and I are going to BSL soon for a couple nights as our Christmas gift to each other. We have been a few times and know a lot of the normal/popular restaurants. I was hoping people had some under the radar/hidden gem type of places in BSL and surrounding area. Also, good dessert places would be appreciated. Don't mind driving 20-30 minutes if it's worth the drive. TIA

In BSL, I would go to Sycamore House. Grab a drink at The Loft before or after.

Do you want fine dining, beach scene, good food in casual atmosphere?

You can drive up to Kiln to Dempsey's Seafood for casual lunch or dinner. Some people may say the Steamery, and it's fine, just did not get the excitement for the place. We tend to eat on the more casual side when in BSL, so the Ugly Pirate for pizza and beers. Shaggy's in Pass Christian for a beach vibe food and drinks, in BSL- Blind Tiger, Lemoins Landing (both beach type fare) and Dan B's for music and drinks

Field's Steak and Oyster Bar was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. From the drinks to the awful food, was just very disappointing and very expensive. NEVER will I ever go back. IMHO.

Anthony’s Ristorante is a newer, Mississippi upscale Italian place. Same folks as Trapani’s. Right there in old town

Thorny Oyster has good desserts. Probably one of the only places with a pastry chef. There’s a Creole Creamery

The only place I’d travel for is white pillars

Great location, but a disappointing dining experience to say the least.

Cannot go wrong at The Thorny Oyster for brunch, lunch, happy hour, or dinner.

S&B's in Waveland is solid as is Ricky's on Coleman. For breakfast I recommend Da Kitchen Too. The Butcher Block is also another restaurant we enjoy in the Depot District and while you are in the Depot District the Hen House does small plates and makes great drinks.

For dessert…Sugar Pop Bakery in Waveland. Excellent desserts and treats, and good sandwiches. The owner won one of the Baking Championships on Food Network. Its in the Katrina museum, oddly. Worth the little drive to Waveland.

We, too, have been several times and hit the major spots. Going next weekend and trying two of the new places— Anthonys and Fields Crab Shack.

I am wanting to get to Radish in Long Beach. Heard a lot of good things.

I lived in the Pass for 5 years. When I go back to visit that area I head to Long Beach Market and Deli, Asian Paradise, Hook or Beach Blvd. Steamer.

The head chef at Long Beach Market and Deli is Le Cordon Bleu trained. The restaurant is casual and the menu is different from anything else on the coast. My favorite entrees are the summer rolls.

Enjoy!
