Why not play back and have the 5-4 advantage and have the free player basically playing like a safety?

To prevent a pass to a running player who can take a dribble and shoot.

That ball was in the air a long time.

Should have been tipped.

We had a length on ball, which is supposedly a good move… that’s the least of the mistakes on this play….. a dude caught a ball 19 feet from the basket and was able to turn with zero defenders in front of him…… You can’t make that up

The only way they could have a pass to a "dribble and shoot" running player would be, at best, a half court shot.

No, you should defend the pass. Force a poorer trajectory. It was our job to knock it down.

Wrong.

Every coach in the nation does it. You don't allow a free pass.

Again, with 3 to 4 seconds, yes. (more of a line drive pass that can be "changed" by the defender)

With 1.7 seconds, NO. (A long looping pass that easily is thrown over the defender, making that defender worthless).

You can’t knock it down, you got to catch it. It’s not like football where it’s incomplete and dead ball. Clock doesn’t start until someone touches it. He could have thrown it to where we knock it out of bounds and they get an ally oop, or we knock it to a player and he shoots or is fouled. You gotta catch the rock.

Time would have expired even if we tipped it out of bounds.
